You know that guy behind the pillar that's one shot?

I honestly feel bad you typed all that knowing it will go over his head. Knowing him, he’s literally implying you can’t use a grapple in chess or basketball

Oh look. Another pointless comment that adds nothing to the conversation.

Don’t be so upsetti. Someone has to lighten the mood in this vicious cycle you guys call a “conversation.”

Your basically saying.

Halo simulation should be like battle royale because nothing ever goes as planned in real combat.

Your not making a point on how it’s fair. Wheres the fair in this?

If a have a grapple and you don’t during game play. How is that fair OR fun.

Not a single time I used an equipment and went " ohh cool an equipment I can only.use for 3-5 uses"

I never went. “Oh cool. I got such a good kill on him with the grapple even tho he didn’t have his own grapple”.

Like what’s the draw here? Is being different for the sake of being different your argument? Does everyone here LIKE hero shooters?

I’m confused. What’s fun about this. What’s fair about it.

If two or.more people disagree with each other what makes you think it’s going to be daisy’s and rainbows all the time?

You want me to pull up with some tea and crackers to lighten the mood? Like what do you think this is honestly? A hangout spot?

What I think it is, honestly?

I think this whole thing is a gaggle of nonsense, personally.

Because the rockets ARE ALWAYS IN THE MIDDLE.

It’s like you forget that crucial part.

It’s in the middle. Directly in the middle. That’s what makes it fair and therefore fun

Oh right. Silly me

I’ll humor you for a moment, then I’m going to bed since I’m heading out to Hiroshima tomorrow, so don’t expect a reply until much later.

Since everyone has beaten to death and said pretty much everything I think about this discussion, which is why I haven’t made a serious post, I’ll simply reiterate what others have said.

Your main issue in the OP is in regards to people running away and ducking behind cover, and not having something like thrust to chase them down, despite the fact if everyone had thrust, they would be able to use it to run away further, basically making the entire purpose of your point moot. You like to theorycraft a lot of situations that suit your argument, yet when others point out the flaws and countermeasures you can use, you reply with mediocre gameplay that people have tried telling you in several ways how you could improve and make better decisions to close out your kills. And then you gloat about your own “skill” when it’s clear you’re just an above average player, probably like most others here, myself included. Then you pull out the classic “1v1 me bro” as if it makes your argument more valid to beat someone in a 1v1. News flash: it doesn’t. Just because you might have SOME skill in this game, it doesn’t suddenly make your argument any more valid than anyone else. Did you watch the tournament a few weekends ago? The use of equipment made the games SUPER interesting to watch and I found it quite enjoyable.

Then, you make arguments for how some maps have closer spawns for certain equipment items, without making mention that rockets are the same. Like just now, you said rockets are ALWAYS in the middle, and that’s simply not true. Launch Site, one team spawns with rockets, vehicles, easier access to the power up, and the other team spawns with a Sniper. But your issue lies with equipment?

No, it isn’t equipment at all. Your issue seems to stem with ASYMMETRICAL maps, something that has been a staple in Halo since the very first game. If on a symmetrical map there is equal opportunity for teams to vie for equipment and items, it renders your entire argument moot. If I get into a skirmish with someone who has a grapple and I don’t, that is literally no different than running into someone with a rocket when I don’t. The only big difference here is when they have a grapple, I actually have a fighting chance, whereas the rocket I’m pretty much a goner no matter what.

I’m not really getting the issue here. On a nap like Behemoth, both teams spawn with a grappleshot underneath than they can easily grab and use against each other. This isn’t unfair in the slightest, just like it isn’t unfair that I could run into someone with a Bulldog when I don’t have one myself, or a Mangler, or really any weapon that could throttle me that doesn’t spawn “in the middle.”

And even on an asymmetrical map, there is something that you can do to get the good equipment. Something that has been present in every single Halo game. Wanna know what it is?

It’s called map control. Map control has literally been a staple of the series since Day 1, and great teams are marked by their ability to control power weapon spawns, and in this case, also equipment spawns.

I remember High Ground in Halo 3 being a beloved map, despite the fact one team gets easy access to Rockets, Sniper, the Overshield, and Bubble Shield, and the other teams gets a Spartan Laser. In my 15 years of playing Halo, you’re literally the first person I’ve seen that has talked about running into someone who has something that you don’t being “unfair.”

Even in games like Quake, a TRUE arena shooter, not every single map is symmetrical and great players have the ability to control the entire map, denying their opponent armor and weapon pickups. It’s quite literally the same in Halo. There’s almost no difference. If I kill someone in Quake, they don’t spawn with rockets. Now I have the ability to rocket jump and they don’t, and I can further deny them rockets by controlling the rocket spawn. Does that suddenly make it “unfair” because I’m using gameplay to my advantage to get a win? No, it doesn’t.

No one cares about your so-called “honor” or what you consider “fair.” As long as someone isn’t exploiting or hacking, absolutely anything is fair game as long as it is within the confines of how the game is supposed to work. If you think something is cheap and refuse to use it, good for you for having “morals” in a game I guess?

This whole discussion is asinine, and you refuse to budge on any point at all, despite dozens of people saying to you the exact same things I’m telling you now. Whether you take our advice or not, I don’t really care honestly.

But this game isn’t Halo 5. It’s never going to be Halo 5. Get over it, or go back to Halo 5. No one cares bro.

I literally just got out of a match where I was killed with a bulldog while I was trying to grapple someone lmfao and honestly, good for them for being able to stop me.

If it isn’t fun and you don’t think it’s fair, then stop playing.

Dude, clearly it was unfair that he had a Bulldog and you didn’t. But… it was unfair you had the grappleshot and he didn’t… but, it’s unfair right?

I guess it’s like a double negative. So because you were both unfair, that makes it fair, right?

Ranked and Social could be two different games, but I’m not sure people would want to see a competition without the new features.

I never said you were holding the flag.

It’s worse.
It’s like picking up several items.

I’ve said before that I would be fine if they added multiple innate movements to Infinite instead of having Thrusters and Grappleshots as equipment.

The Grappleshots are in each base.
That’s more fair than one Rocket Launcher being in the middle.

Exactly, and the odds of that are greater than with the Grappleshot.

I remember High Ground, Isolation and Snowbound being the worst maps actually…

Eh maybe it’s just me. Personally I love High Ground, but I also like asymmetrical maps. I find their gameplay infinitely more interesting than symmetrical maps most of the time.

I like Launch Site, but High Ground is only okay if you get the higher side of the map.

B-b-but… then you don’t get a Sniper, Rockets, and an Overshield. So it’s unfair???

I can’t aim or dodge, so it’s fair.

But you know what would help you dodge?

THRUST

:open_mouth:.
We need innate Thrusters pronto.

With no cooldown either.

Update MCC to add thrust in all previous Halo games. The gameplay needs to be sped up, since yknow, Infinite TOTALLY doesn’t have generally faster kill times or even base movement speed compared to the original trilogy.

Ok that’s enough from me. Daddy has to go to bed.

@AlternatVolt feel free to reply to the novel I wrote. Can’t guarantee I’ll reply or even read what you say since I already know exactly what you’re going to say in return. I’ll be sure to take a drink for your sanity in Hiroshima tomorrow.
