There’s just so much fun you can have with names in Halo, like the classic “Obama betrayed America” or “You killed Santa Claus”.
It also makes it easier for people to share their clips around the web without having to reveal their gamertag.
I like both, but it’s nice to know what weapons the other team are using against us
When solo queueing and I hear a sniper shot, it’s nice to see the kill feed to know if it’s my teammate with the sniper or the other team. It also helps to know who has rockets so that I can be prepared for it.
Maybe they could do some sort of combination of the two?

I disagree, I prefer Halo 5’s more concise and informative killfeed, though those were funny.
Those were definitely more entertaining, but, all other faults aside, H5’s kill feed is definitely the best in the series. With a quick glance, you get a ton of information that was otherwise not possible in older games. Perhaps 343i could make the classic kill feed an option for customs. I agree, I miss some of the more humorous lines like “Your face betrayed Windows XP.”

I’d say it could be a client-side option, from the settings menu. No need for it to be dictated by the gamemode.
A customs game option could decide whether or not the killfeed is visible at all, for hardcore gamemodes.

What I meant was it should only be available as an option for customs and not matchmaking. Everyone should be have an equal footing when playing online and that includes the kill feed.

With this system it would be up to the player what kind of killfeed they use. Some people could have the quick and concise new system, while others could change it to the less-informative, but classic-feeling and hilarious old system.
Personally I’d love to see more of “A Pack of Mexicans beat down ORK MASTA” (that’s an actual killfeed from an actual Reach BTB match I played on Trident 9 years ago).

My friends and I used to make up names just to do that! I actually had one name get reported and had to change it: Yourself Dumb-yoink- (what -yoink- actually is should be fairly obvious)
I guess someone got offended by the words “You Killed Yourself Dumb-yoink-” when they killed me during a match.
I like the H5 system, much cleaner in my opinion.
