This.
Official information has stated Spartan Ops will be part of the package you buy.
In other words: it will be free to play, because it simply is an intergral part of the game you’ll buy.
That’s not saying there won’t be the possibility of new Spartan Ops DLC after the intitial, free, series will be done. But I guess everybody knows/expects that…
This is incorrect. 343 has clearly stated that Spartan Ops is part of the package you receive when you buy Halo 4, and that it requires no further payment. I expect a free online pass for new games that used-game-buyers will have to pay for.
There are multiple mistakes in that Article in basic English alone, then there’s the fact they bring up information that’s already been brought to light and clarified multiple times…granted on NeoGaf, but still…
…So after all those wonderfully done mistakes, I’m not going to believe this idea that’s spawned out of nowhere that Spartan Ops will be Paid DLC out of the gate…
You do not have to pay money for spartan ops missions. It seems you get additional missions with spartan points you earn in game.

Fnuuy how people would get mad if you had to pay, since no one had any issues with “bungie pro” where you had to pay to use basic functions in Reach that were free in other games, even CoD.
Spartan Ops is not pay to play, not real money at least, and even if it would be, I would pay for a good service.
You don’t have to pay with real money. Rather you pay to play for missions with the Spartan Points you earn by playing the rest of the game. The article stats as much that Spartan points are used to buy Ops missions, armor, and weapon loadouts.
So, what I’m curious about then is how much those missions will cost? The infrequent casual player may not be able to afford the cost of the missions because they just don’t play enough to earn enough credits…er points. So will that give an advantage to other more prolific players? How will that impact regular matchmaking then?
I’m very interested to see how this all plays out and can’t wait for some official info from 343 explaining this all.
I just got the gameinformer magazine 2 days ago and guess what they said Spartan ops are free you get them when you buy the game. Next time use a good source.

I’m sorry, this is going to be blunt. Do you know how to read? The GameInformer article clearly states that it will be absolutely free. I’m pretty sure they even quoted 343 saying that Microsoft didn’t believe in charging for it, and that it’s included in the price of the game.

Either you linked to a different article than you read, or they edited it on their end because at no point do they mention paying for anything with any kind of currency.

They’ve edited the article, presumably someone pointed out their mistake to them.
