Finish a game of CTF, and oh! What’s that? Nope, you don’t get any rewards Director Danny. Nah, instead, we’re going to give you a nice ban because our system can’t tell when you lag out or quit. Thanks for playing!
What a joke.

I’m counting 11 DNFs in 2 days. Lagging out or quitting, that’s excessive.

Tell me about it.
Im from mexico, i only have lag from time to time
Only one or two discconections
No ban so far
You must lag out a lot. Which, BTW, from your team’s perspective, is no different from quitting. I wouldn’t want to be playing with you either if that’s gonna happen.
Haha.

Must be nice.
There was going to be collateral damage to a tight ban policy. And yet, it needs to be there IMO.

I’m guilty of quitting a few games, but not all of them are quits. Lag outs should NOT count as quits, but it appears 343’s system can’t tell the difference. Oh well.

Why not? And how could the servers possibly know the difference?

I’m sure there is a way for them to detect whether or not the person quit or got lagged out. They either got lazy, or are working on one as we speak. Who knows. But to disconnect at the end of the game? Seriously? That’s just a slap in the face with a big salami stick.

Why are you so sure?

How could something you can’t control ever be your fault? You should never be punished for something you have nothing to do with. And I refuse to believe they don’t have the ability to detect the difference. If they can create a game that has the ability to access online, they should be able to AT LEAST tell whether or not you’re quitting or lagging out.

I’m pretty sure we all have a degree of control over our internet. If you knowingly play with a bad connection, I would say you had something to do with it. Whether you choose to believe it or not is irrelevant. And how would they do that?
I think a quit should count as 2-4 loses, not a ban. I think that your internet connection is your concern, however to keep it so everyone is happy their should be a more tolerable way to do so. Quitters quit so they can usually avoid the loss, but a ban won’t stop them later from doing the same. Let’s not ban internet issues but there still needs to be a fair way to handle the quitters, this is what I propose.

I don’t think I’ve met someone on these forums who defends 343 so bad. You must be the leader of the 343 Defense Force. Holy hell.

I’m no programmer, but I’m pretty sure someone with the expertise could determine the difference based on packet loss and and general degradation in signal quality. I can’t say how easy or difficult it would be to account for that in an automated system, but maybe 343 intentionally didn’t draw a distinction between the two.

the only reason why you don’t get banned the first game you quit is because they cant tell if it was a disconnect or a quit, otherwise they would ban after a single quit and that’s ok, you just admitted that you quitted before, you should get banned. If I was in charge of 343 everyone that I would see on the forums admitting that they quit I would manually ban them.

I would make that my signature, but then I couldn’t link music. Is that all you’ve got?

And what if people started pulling their Ethernet cords or whatever? Would there be a difference there as well?

Haha, is that a challenge? You should know your place, boy.
