We’ve been around for 21 years now and people are still scared of change, so much so that id is making the new doom game with its "OLD"school roots… please turn these arguements around and don’t turn into these bums…
Yes, they still dislike 3d graphics in the new ports as well as concepts like “aiming”, “jumping”, “crouching”, and proper long-range combat and good lord… “RELOADING”!
Why does every franchise need to sacrifice its identity to become the same as every other franchise?
This logic makes no sense.
So what if a game doesn’t have ___ feature? That just defines how the game plays and sets it apart.
I love Halo, yet I would be pissed if a new Timesplitters came out adopting Halo’s mechanics.
Boo-hoo a game doesn’t have jumping or reloading. Play a game that does.

Exactly.
Those people like DOOM, so give them DOOM.
If you want to make a different game, go make a different game and call it something different.
If old-school DOOM isn’t fun anymore, then fine… but old Halo is still fantastic, and it’s better than every iteration since. So either come up with new ideas that are actually FUN and consistent with the old games, or stick to the roots.

Pretty much this.
Nintendo is one of the only devs that keeps games true to its roots and theyre also pretty much the only dev whos games stay strong through multiple console generations.

Doom is 21 freaking years old, the only time it got publicity was: A. the new game, and B. a mod that made it faster paced and modernized, called Brutal Doom, which I can’t play original without it because of how slow it is. And, the new game some gameplay features based after the mod’s… maybe because people like newer things rather than the same thing year after year?
As long as a game doesn’t forsake it’s identity but succeeds in bringing new blood into the flood (which it absolutely needs to survive) then there shouldn’t be a problem.
Thank you OP (RECON AVENGER), that’s good way at putting it.
If it’s the same game over and over again, it’ll get stale and die. Stick with MCC collection if you don’t like Halo 5, don’t drag us down.
I’m off too play the beta, this battle bore’s me.

Are you thanking your own post…?

If there’s a ton of fans that still like Doom, make a Doom game that sticks to the roots.
If everyone has forgotten about Doom, then make a new IP.
They didn’t seem to have any problems selling Quake under a different name than Doom.
Using the franchise’s name as a way to false advertise your new product to old fans is just a -Yoink- thing to do.

Do you have multiple-personality disorder by any chance? Kidding, but please don’t respond to your own thread that’s just a waste of everyone’s time.

I see what he is saying and its understand able. Gta5 a lot of people got it for the story and new gta so that’s anot her reason to get it, I got it for 360 the got xbox one and did not get it don’t see a point to spend another 60 or 70 on a game that’s the same as the others. It got old fast even with the multiplayer. People still play old games cause they like them and got use to them, that’s why they won’t change or don’t want that game to change, & that is understandable no one likes change humans don’t like change when you find something you like you stick with it right? But change is a part of everything and needs to happen. Does not have to be extreme, but there needs to be change that’s how it work or it will die and new games will come out better and no one will remember it other then a hand full of players that play each other over and over. Which is no fun what so ever. I personally love all halos played all halos and halo is the only game I will play story first before multiplayer.
For all you -Yoinks!- out there, the OP I meant: Recon Avenger.
I meant by this ye-old debate that you guys are busy fighting just like doomworld still does, over trivial matters that are dividing it’s community. I just don’t want to see that be Halo in a few years.

I agree with you. A new game in a franchise is about moving forward(unless its a prequel) halo has been changing its core gameplay with every new game.
halo without some new features would not seem very halo.
