Couple days after Halo 5 released it was officially announced that work has already started on Halo 6 and they have the luxury they didn’t have before:they know how the story continues and what ultimately happens with Master Chief! Then after almost 3 years we got a look at new engine and that’s it.No story trailer,no gameplay.
its because h5 was recived poorly, they had plans to make lock a main character, and side line chief. halo 6 was probably going to be alot like halo 5. ofc things didnt go to plan, people want chief. so they scrapped what they worked on and started on a new engine and keep stating over and over that chief will be the main focus from now on. ofc because of all this the nxt halo is going to be 2019 or even 2020. its prity obvious thats what happend.
on the plus side there just going to try and replicate bungie art style now and focus on chief and probably side line lock ect. so id that that over a -Yoink- copy of h5 again
It’s gonna be another year or more of halo 5,mcc,and hw2.And 2 out of 3 of those games are no longer receiving dlc or significant support,so idk how they can afford to wait til after 2019 to release this

But they"had"the story figured out, where is the story trailer?
Hunt the truth was also so amazing that the disconnect between HTT and h5 put a sour taste in a lot of players when there were zero references to HTT in h5 campaign. Making the marketing for h5 feeling like a lie. I’d imagine Microsoft would like to not repeat the same thing with Halo Infinite.
To be honest i was expecting at least 2 Halo games announced at E3,one side game for this year and Halo 6 next year. But it seems all this time they were working on a new engine and don’t have nothing to show.People want Elites back for 4 years, the most requested thing on the Forums. Is it so hard to make Elites only game on Halo 5 engine?
343 has never really shown us much when it comes to announcement trailers. I mean, look at Halo 5’s if you want an example. It had little to do with the game itself. It’s rumored that’s because of forced rewrites or whatever. Maybe 343 is trying to prevent the same thing from happening again.
And for all we know, there could have been a good amount of a story tease in the trailer that we don’t yet understand. I mean, there’s a crashed pelican and a poster that says “Fight For Her” if you look closely.
Anyway, I’m pretty sure most of the trailer was supposed to be like, “Look at our new engine, it’s beautiful! And look at our new art style, it’s nostalgic!” Not one that teased the story at all. We’ll get our story trailer soon enough.
Well, most people didn’t like Halo 5 so they probably shifted gears and scrapped the story they had planned. They’ve probably been focusing on building this engine for 2-3 years while the writing team is trying to figure out how to dig themselves out of a hole.
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but 343i probably only began work on the actual game itself early this year or late last year. They’ve probably had other things going on like storyboarding, concept art, and modeling. Like I said though, they’re probably not very deep into map, level, character, and sandbox design. We probably won’t see this game until late 2019 or even 2020.
Having said that, I’m okay with waiting. I want them to do the best possible job with this game since the last few entries were kind of meh. What they’ve done looks promising and we should all try to be patient.

I mean you can know the story but not be able to show it if this is a new engine that was just finished. They were showing off the engine and letting our imaginations run wild with the hype. More details will come, be patient :).
my guess is they were working on halo 6 after 5. but as i said about things didnt go well with halo 5. i bet they ditched a good years worth of work because it was probably based on alot of things fans didnt like in halo 5, and ofc the script was probably lacking in chief and pro lock.
Then the engine was probably already being worked on for a later halo game for next gen. But once all the negativity for halo 5 reached a climax they came out and said that the nxt game will go back to its roots and chief a be the main star again, everything had to be scrapped , but ofc the engine didnt. so they probably are focusing on the new engine as the next game instead and have to start all over but using the nxt gen engine.
so we probably wont see the nxt halo until 2020 or even later. really sux, but from what they shown, the direction and art style it could pay off in the long run

This is how you set yourself up for disappointment.
Try not to expect things before they’re announced, simple as that.
It was just a Teaser Trailer, they were (As you mentioned) just showing off their new engine & how goddam gorgeous Master Chief looked…sorry zoned out there can’t stop thinking of that armor
But the next trailer I bet they’ll show the story and possibly some gameplay
I’m glad if they take the time to do amazing work and not mess up a cut up story, like Halo 5. MUCH better to wait years for a great, thorough game then be handed a meh, unfinished game, or games. Think Halo 5 campaign or Star Wars Battlefront. If they went the route of just pumping out multiple games using the Halo ip then they’d be foolish, imo.
In the meantime at least we can get really good at pull ups or somethin, lol

For real! I was excited to listen to those audio logs. And was super let down how it was barely tied into H5. Like… the only thing that I remember being remotely tied in was the mining planet or whatever experiencing those “disturbances”…
I’m looking forward to this game only because I love Halo. I just hope it’s good enough to pull me off of ESO.

If you haven’t looked on halo waypoint here. 343 has specifically said. That its going to continue the storyline from where halo 5 left off. The changes being made are. The story focusing on halos most iconic here Master chief. Witch is how it should have been. Remember halo 5 practicaly side lined chief. You only played 4 mb 5 missions as him. The rest was nothing but playing as spartan lock. And that simply was a out of the question change that never should have happened. So the story hasn’t been scrapped. What has been scrapped is side lining chief. And replicating call of duty style gameplay. Meaning a return to what halo was in HAlo CE - 3

About your last point, where have they stated that they are returning to the slow and backwards play style of the original trilogy. Maybe backwards is a huge leap, but it is definitely slow and many people find the ability to aim and two movement settings to be quite fun.

Very true and still nothing official has been announced so it may possibly be still aimin down sights ect and two movement settings. It may return to classic halo gameplay we all will find out in time

As long as I’m still able to sprint (yes this is a contentious topic, and I agree that it needs to be balanced a bit more) and aim (I have poor eye sight so the ability to magnify my screen is pretty nice for me) I will have no problems with the game. While I hope they don’t cut the entire advanced movement system, it’s does need some tweaking.

More time to wait for us doesn’t necessarily mean we will get better game.I have seen games developed 5 years or more and they weren’t good, for example Mass Effect Andromeda. On the other side i have seen a lot great games being developed 3 years or even less. The best recipe for a good game is if the developers have a clear vision of what they want to make and don’t complicate things for themselves during development.Halo was an established franchise and it just had to be continued with it’s core mechanics intact with better visuals and good story. Now im afraid that all this extra time will be spent on split screen,PC port, new gameplay on a new engine, etc.
You realize almost every Halo teaser didn’t include much to begin with? It was just a little teaser to get us hyped, you expect too much if you expected the reveal to give you everything at once. Let them take their time instead of rushing them to make an unfinished and unpolished product, that is what happened with both Halo MCC, and Halo 5.
