You get an average of 2 medals per kill in Halo 5

This is just getting completely rediculous. I looked at the few hours or so of gameplay we have of the Halo 5 beta, and decided to average out the medals you get per kill. And it equals out to being about two per kill.

You will ALWAYS get one medal per kill, just called “Kill” guaranteed. Heck, I was playing Halo CE earlier at a friend’s house on MCC, I got 7 medals just for getting a double kill. It really draws attention to a serious crisis in the multiplayer of 343i Halo titles.

How much of our screen is taken up by pointless BS now? I don’t want my screen full of points, medals, power weapon callouts, location callouts, and indicators. Halo 2 and 3 were perfect, they looked clean and the multiplayer announcer only gave out praise when it mattered.

In Halo 3 I would always look at the post game to see what medals I got. Now I feel they purposely made the medals drab and boring so you couldn’t tell them apart, and it doesn’t matter anyway because you’re gonna get 3 dozen of the freaking things even if you go 0-15.

This isn’t CoD, no matter how much you want it to be 343i.

I miss when medals were actually something cool to earn. A “kill” medal is either really funny or really sad.
Reach had the right amount of medals, as far as I’m concerned. Add some new ones that only have to deal with the new mechanics introduced in Halo 5, but that’s it. Take out all these “you got a kill with insert weapon here” medals. We don’t need one for every little thing we do.

I’m divided on this topic.

I will agree that not every medal needs announced. Announcer should be limited only to Sprees, Overkills, and other actual feats. The game has enough audio clutter as is.

I do like the increased medal variety though, even though some like Comeback Kill are absolutely asinine.

“You’ve gotten one kill after 3 deaths! Your K/D is now worse! Have a medal!”

It all comes back to attracting new players and yess making bad players feel like they arnt that bad. Keeps them playing. And to be honest that’s not a bad thing. But the best option is like someone mentioned to just not to announcement them all. Then everyone is happy

As I’ve said before, 343 is making Halo 5 a noob friendly game. It’s ridiculous. Ya know, about a week ago, I had a 25% discount card to Walmart. The X-bone Waun is $349 right now, and The MCC is $60. Together, that’s $409. With my 25% discount, it would’ve cost $306.75 dollars, and I still didn’t buy it. That’s $102.25 off.

That’s not good for Microshaft or 343. Just sayin’.

Less on screen medals and less anouncer calling out medals. One of the few things they need to fix.

Good job! You went negative, Have the " Try harder buddy!" Medal.
What that? Stepped on an ant hill during battle? Have the " Species destroyer medal"

Really some of the medals are getting ridiculous. Reversal is the dumbest thing I have ever seen, half of your kills in halo can be “reversal”. Hat trick is stupid, we don’t need to feel proud for having a three kill streak.

Yea I really dislike how many medals there are now. I don’t need crap filling up my screen telling me every little thing I do.

I think we should see a system implemented like the medal flasher settings in MCC. Where there might be a few settings to how you want to see medals. Like bare bones, no style medals, default(all). I feel like this would just put a stake in the whole problem. Though, some might be bothered that the medals are even on their profile at all, but maybe those can be just turned to basic stats from your perspective. Seems like a good compromise to me.

the only thing I don’t care for is that they are right in the bottom middle
I think anywhere else, even the top looks better
but I don’t know. I have gotten so use to them h3 feels empty without them

When are 343 going to understand that less is more?

Does it really bother? Like truely game breaking I can no longer play or enjoy this game - bother you? They can probably implement something in options that turns off medals showing. But who cares if you get a medal for doing something. In the long run you play the game for enjoyment. Not medals.

The kill medal I can agree with. A lot better than having to look to the bottom left to read “x has killed y” to confirm it was your kill.

Of for -Yoinks!- sake can we please quit with the CoD comparison’s? It’s becoming as banal and trite as the arrow in the knee meme was, and about as appropriate. CoD doesn’t have equal starts, CoD doesn’t have map control, CoD doesn’t have power weapon control, CoD doesn’t have long kill times, Halo 5 does not have killstreaks, ordinance or custom loadouts, CoD did not invent thruster pack or Aim Down Sites, and the only ADS Halo 5 has is an aesthetic design for the zoom scope we’ve always had. Halo 5 is about as much of a CoD game as Halo 3 was, and the mere fact that there are too many medals in Halo 5 has nothing to do with CoD either; hell CoD didn’t have as many medals as Halo Reach did.

Look we get it Halo 4 used too many CoD-like mechanics, but instead of assuming Halo 5 is going to be like CoD how about we pay attention to what the game actually is and stop living 2 years in the past. I mean I honestly think the letters “CoD” are just a buzzword to get impulsive fans riled up and supportive of an argument without paying attention to facts or logic, like that “undecided voters” bit from Family Guy; it’s poisonous to quality discussion.

The comparison is now so outdated I can’t help but lose a brain cell every time I see it. Halo 5 is not CoD, no one is intending for it to be CoD, and nothing in the game calls to mind CoD, so let’s all move on from this damn game and let CoD be; this isn’t 2012 anymore people.

Dems some big words you be usin’ par’ner.

But thats what they do. They come to the internet and find something they do not like. Then mercilessly complain about it until its been run into the ground so deep, it would take the better part of who cares to find it.

The amount of medals is just ridiculous. It’s like someone at 343i decided that, YOU GET A MEDAL, YOU GET A MEDAL EVERYONE GETS MEDALS YAY!
