You don't have the right to make demands

To everyone who is demanding that 343i make changes to Halo 4,

We should be ASKING 343 to make this game better, not DEMANDING that they make changes, and this is why:

This is a product. You paid $60 for said product. It is perfectly reasonable to want to get the most out of said product. That said, you have no right to demand that they do anything to the game. I understand that when you shell out that amount of cash you have some hopes for what you will receive, and for many of you that is not exactly what you got.

But you did not pay them for the game you WANTED them to make, you paid them for the game that they MADE. This is what they offered us, this is what we paid for, and this is what we got.

Imagine you walked into a sandwich shop and ordered your favorite type of sandwich, say, a ham and cheese. Now, you receive your sandwich from the nice man behind the counter, and you give him your money. You bite the sandwich, and you notice that it tastes slightly off. Do you walk up to the counter and demand your money back? How about demanding that they replace the cheese on it with the exact same kind of cheese you had before? No, you might go up and ask if they did something different to it, or maybe offer a suggestion for the next time. Or, if it really really put you off, you don’t come back.

This is how we should be treating Halo 4. We shouldn’t be demanding that they change the product that they created to better suit us. We have every right to ASK them to fix issues, we have every right to SUGGEST that they better suit this game or later games to better fit what we want. But we all paid for this product, and they gave us this product, and if you think you paid for something other than what you got then you, sir, are mistaken. They decide what to sell us, we decide what to buy.

Also, for those people who like to shout about their “rights,” it’s important to note this: technically, when you buy a game, you are only paying for the right to play it, you are not paying for actual ownership of the game itself - every element of it is the property of the developer, so only they have a right to change it. They are not legally obliged to implement whatever gameplay changes the player wants.

You don’t have the right to tell people what they’re entitled to.

I just want to add that 343i did a hell of a job, and for all those whiners who think they can do better where is your game you created?
Good job 343i keep it up.
Chop!!

While its not what many wanted, it is still 343’s baby. I REALLY wanted a good Game Of Thrones game, but no matter how much we demand for that game to change it will never be good. I am just happy 343 is doing what they can to make it better, that is more than you can say for other developers. If people were expecting bungie, the should not have bought a 343 game. Although constructive criticism is still required for improvement.

I actually like the game, flaws and all.

The forums aren’t for unadulterated praise of the game. That’s not productive in the slightest. It’s also quite sickening, to be perfectly honest. I have the right to make any demands I want. I purchased the game for $120 and the team at 343i was paid to develop a fantastic game. In my opinion, they failed. Therefore, I’m going to use the forums properly, which entails providing the developers with detailed constructive criticism, which I, and many others, have done.

Hopefully the team will read our feedback (though I doubt they’ll bother) and do a better job on Halo 5. It was their job to develop and release a product, and we willingly consumed it. Some of us got stomach aches. Others had violent allergic reactions. What makes us similar is that we were all anticipating this game very much, which makes the disappointment so much worse. It’s our job to tell 343i exactly why their product didn’t satisfy us in the hopes that they’ll do a better job next time, or at least attempt to fix their current game.

Some of the more outstanding and ridiculous ideas aside, most of the dissatisfied community’s demands are quite reasonable. We’re fine with innovation and new features, but we would sincerely appreciate access to the options we’ve had in the previous games. Some of the more pressing issues include but are not limited to the atrocious user interface, especially compared to Reach’s, the severe lack of Custom Games options, and the sheer amount of bugs and glitches, as a few examples.

If we don’t tell 343i what we think is wrong, they can’t fix it, because they won’t be aware of it. As Helen Keller said, “Science may have found a cure for most evils; but it has found no remedy for the worst of them all - the apathy of human beings.” If we refuse to give feedback, they’ll continue releasing flawed product which we, the sheep, would continue to consume until it drove us mad or killed us. It’s just a game, but it’s also something many people spend many hours playing and devote much of their thoughts and precious time to. We care, and we’re showing it. The word fan stems from the word fanatic, and we’re definitely passionate about our series.

Don’t act like such an elitist. You have the right to tell people what you think they’re entitled to, but it doesn’t mean any of us have to listen, especially when you state it in such a nasty and confrontational way, just like the people you seemingly oppose. Good day to you, sir.

Lets also take into account that you cant get a refund for being dissappointed with said product. basically you just drain away your $60.

I agree. Up to the point where some people aren’t getting what was advertised and they paid for. While most of the American complaints swell the forums with stupid niggly gameplay change demands, the fact that Australia, Asia, etc… literally CANNOT PLAY online is getting drowned out. I’m almost beginning to not blame 343 for turning a deaf ear.

> I purchased the game for $120 and the team at 343i was paid to develop a fantastic game. In my opinion, they failed.

Only one issue with this.
They were NOT paid to make a “fantastic” game. You did not give them your money in exchange for a “fantastic” game. They made A game. You paid them for A game. Just because the game was not as good as you were hoping, because it didn’t live up to whatever expectations you had, does not make a difference in what you gave them your money for.

They produced Halo 4. You purchased Halo 4. Period.

Side note for clarification:
I’m not suggesting that anyone stop telling 343i what they want fixed, I just want there to be a slightly better tone about it.
