I like that they are starting to do xp-per-match, but I keep getring frustrated with the specific weekly challenges.
You did by saying reach was $60 and this is free to play.
It is great that they want to work on it for the next 10 years and i understand they need to make money for that to happen but by forcing absolutely absurd grinds that only the hardcode players can reasonably accomplish and charging so much for cosmetics only the whales with more money than sense can actually afford is not how they go about doing it. Most of the player base will be gone within a year with the gameās monetization in the state it is in.
I understand cosmetics are optional but in a game like halo where customization has been a huge part of it since the very first game and has gotten expanded on pretty much every game since, completely stripping it out entirely and locking all of it behind massive grinds and absurd price walls is not a smart idea.
Reach also never added more customization post launch and had a few map packs you had to buy in order to get the full experience.
I was simply making the comparison in reply to someone who made the comparison first.
I wasnāt excusing Infiniteās current system so donāt put words in my mouth. My opinion on the issue isnāt so black and white.
Again, as Iāve stated several times, I agree the progression is currently too slow.
Not to mention XP boosts⦠once you start one, the timer keeps counting down regardless if you actually have the game running or not! For instance, you start a boost and enter a match and, after the match is over you turn the game off, the boost timer will continue to tick down. So, for those that pay for XP boosts, might get one or two games out of it. And with that, might not complete any challenges for it to be beneficial.
XP boosters are a waste and pointless. Once you start one the timer ticks down regardless on if youāre playing a match, loading a match, or not even playing the game at all. A 30 min (or 1 hour they claim) only last for that amount in real world time.
Iāve been patient with 343i since Halo 4. But now Iāve had enough. -Yoink!- 'em. Hard.
And itās not like the weekly reward is something to brag about!!! Iāll grind for the achievement, but after that, if the weekly reward isnāt something to get excited over, I wonāt even try.
Even they have done it, but they seem to have forgotten
Players are already abusing the system, already in game chat I have heard players say they will āsit this one outā because the game type isnāt one they can gain xp in. I myself have dropped out of matches to search for a CTF or Strongholds match. This whole BP system needs a rework before full launch. If I canāt gain xp based on game win/ performance then this is a no for me.
Im really starting to feel the Free to Play trade off is going to not be worth it
I think what they heard was āwe want to be getting XP every matchā and thatās why weāre now getting 50xp a match in the form of a never-ending daily challenge. Iām hoping this is a stop-gap measure for a more permanent fix, I honestly thought the previous daily challenges were fine and I didnāt mind not receiving XP after every match - but I do understand why others were frustrated with that.
Cāmon 343, stop acting like Activision !
Unfortunately, I havenāt gathered sufficient amount of data about the battle pass progression system to present an informed opinion about the technical aspects of the system. However, I do still have some surface level critiques about the system.
Firstly, my main critique of the system is that itās possible to speed up the progression through real world money. The main critique is that itās possible to purchase xp boosts using real world money which devalues the rewards and the system itself. This do also apply to some extent that itās possible to get xp boosts from the premium pass, get one additional weekly challenge slot and the ability to purchase challenge swaps in order to give the player the benefit of changing the set of challenge to a more beneficial set of challenges to the player.
Secondly, another critique of the system is that there is a relatively unbalanced ratio between premium and free content in the Battle Pass. In the current Battle Pass, there exist 107 permanent items. Out of these items, 26 are free and 81 are premium which gives the ratio of 3.1 premium items per free item. Additionally, none of the free items does properly represent the theme of the pass itself which feels a bit inappropriate. A more appropriate distribution should have been that that that the free content is more general and a clear representation of the theme while the premium content should have been something more obscure and specific like variants of the free content.
In summary, my main surface level complaints is that itās possible to speed up the process of completing the pass through real world money and an inappropriate distribution between free and premium content and that the free content doesnāt represent the theme of the battle pass itself.
I can only play 10-14 hrs a week. And I play Halo for the win. Donāt care about challenges that influence negatively how the game should be played. With this Exp system Iām 100% not able to unlock anything. Thatās really annoying.
I just want a reward for winning, If I have a 3 K/D and capture the flag all 3 times in a CTF game, I need a reward.
I think the xp granted to the player should be based on performance. Like XP for each medal, K/D ratio and objective points. Also the XP booster should not be active outside of games in my opinion.
So did the math, you get less XP for the first 15 games, but after that you are getting more XP per match.
How did yo get that? I estimated at least 25 games, thereās a chart on reddit that calculated you donāt see an increase until 22-23 games.
Put H in front of the link.
