So ,
Since the release of the MCC I’ve been scanning through the forum posts and all I seem to be reading are complaints from supposed “Halo Fans”, be it:
- why did they add sprint, why did they add ADS… blah blah !!
- The servers aren’t working…
- matchmaking is broken…
- I cant find a game

I could go on and on… but the bottom line is, secretly you actually don’t care because you know that all of the problems will be resolved, its just a matter of time. 343 have done an amazing job to reboot and already amazing franchise with the MCC
So lets just sit tight and enjoy what we have. I see everybody complaining yet you take the time out to be interested enough to comment.

I didn’t buy Halo 4 because it kept Armour Abilities from Reach, added grenade and power weapon indicators, added loadouts, added killstreaks, and added perks. I made a guess based on all the information that I had available at the time that it would not be a balanced or competitive game. And I was right.
Those things never got resolved because unlike Reach, we never had an MLG playlist where all of that stuff was removed and we could play classic arena.
Depending on the information I hear about Halo 5 up till release I might not buy it either. Everything hinges on whether 343i will provide custom options support and at least one truly competitive playlist in the entire game.
The basic premise in your argument is mistaken. Firstly it is not correct that the complaints people have are going to be resolved in due time. Only if we are talking about mere technical problems like connection to the server, finding games, etc. But regarding the response to H5, you might want to consider, that 343 seem pretty determined to incorporate sprint and armor abilities into the franchise. They are free to do so, but a lot of fans disagree with those mechanics. And people do indeed care about that.
I can’t speak for others then myself, but I have never played a game with sprint I found entertaining, and H5 looks extremely boring to me. And then people on the forums argue that I am reactionary, a purist, don’t like change or that I secretly don’t care. The case is that there are certain mechanics I just find boring, and I don’t think there mechanics keep the game “fresh”.
I can see that ‘Drowsy Demon’ was smarter than me and didn’t buy H4. I was an idiot and bought it, and soon decided to throw the game out. I still play the pre-Reach games, which I find very entertaining. And while I don’t like to complain about the direction 343 has taken, I find the claims that I meet on this forum preposterous. I – and a lot of people like me – do indeed care, and changes a welcome, but not just any change.
After Halo Reach and 4? No they won’t. To put a twist on an already legendary quote in the world of Xbox, 343 are basically saying to many long term halo fans “we already have a game for you, it’s called MCC” and that’s what those people will stick to.
They will play it, if the have MCC. I can’t say they will stick to it though.
