Remember the ability to just pick which mission you want to replay? Yeah? Well you can’t do that anymore. Missed a skull? Now you gotta play the whole dam thing again. Really want to do a speed run on a certain level… oh well, you can’t.
h ttps://kotaku.com/you-can-t-replay-campaign-missions-in-halo-infinite-1848169253
Sooo, if I understood the text from the link correct.
The first two missions aren’t replayable in one savefile (you will have 4, for whatever reason). Means… I will stroll 2 to 4 hours through the first mission, look behind every corner, turn every stone and inspect every sign to find all collectibles?
Spartans are also detectives now?
I am confused. How credible is that source? Never heard of kotaku before.
But thanks for posting.
Bug sad but not a game changer for me.
I hope they fix that though….
HiddenX and many other YTs who got early access have confirmed this
The way I read it, NONE of the levels are replayable.
If you want to replay level 5, for example, you have to do level 1-4 first. God forbid you miss a skull in the last level and have to replay the WHOLE campaign to do 1 simple thing.
I just don’t understand what 343 is thinking… they have taken away soooo much functionality is every aspect of this game.
It’s like they took 15 steps backwards so they could take 5 steps forward.
I really can’t believe they would miss something as simple as the option to play a level again.
This is probably why they’ve had to delay and rework Co-Op (which I’m already pissed off about). This really makes me even less excited about the campaign because I always like jumping straight in to some of my favorite levels in prior games. Now not only can I not Co-Op with my friends for months, but we can’t just jump into specific levels at our leisure.
I am new to Halo. I have been doing the MCC challenges. Some of the games I haven’t even played through, but I can just pick a level. That has been good for me. If I need to get kills with a sniping weapon, I can just pick a level, say, Truth and Reconciliation. It does seem strange that you would have to completely do it again.
Here’s the big question though, are there even any inaccessible collectables in the linear portions of the story missions? Because while I haven’t played Infinite’s campaign yet obviously, it does strike me that the logical thing to do would just be to put all of those things in the open world where you can go back and get them.
Hope they patch it back in as a feature though. Could do it like Destiny where you interact with some flag or object in the open world & it puts you bank into that mission.
I thought somewhere 343 said that after the final mission, the whole area is unlocked. So that you can go to any previous area and collect whatever you need. Obviously this means only on Zeta Halo. So like one of the first stages is on a ship so that wouldn’t work. But if every area is unlocked so that you can get everything then there is no need to replay a mission, at least for collecting. But still not getting to replay a mission stinks.
A bit of a bummer, but I can live with it. At least that whole “no armor from the campaign” thing turned out to be a hoax.
Yeah, I’d like to know if they actually put any major secrets in the main missions. I really hope they didn’t given that you can’t replay them at this current time. I’d love to just see a campaign mission select from the main menu in the future where it asks you to pick your weapons from the ones that you’ve unlocked by exploring thenppen world and so forth.
My guess as to why you can’t replay the missions is because they designed the game with the whole “One continuous shot” thing, a la God Of War 2018. Figuring out where to lead in to the mission with that kind of storytelling may have been too difficult.
I can conform this. You cannot replay campaign missions. There are fully linear levels in Infinite, and there are also open-world main missions. The majority take place in linear fashion, though. These missions also contain skulls and audio logs. You must make sure to collect them all (if you’re a completionist), because you won’t be able to go back to these levels, even after completing the campaign.
Also, this applies to all the story beats and cut-scenes. There is no way to watch the story again, so you have to pay full attention to all the scenes, as well as the in-game dialogue (there’s a lot), because you can’t replay them. Unless you start the whole game from scratch of course.
There are simple loading screens when you enter a linear mission, so it would have been pretty easy to include a mission select option.
Thank you for the spoiler
Hmmm…that sounds odd. Thanks for clearing this up, because it was unclear to me how you’d replay a mission in an open world game but if most of the missions are linear, it makes more sense.
I’m scratching my head thinking about a good explanation as to why it’s not possible to replay the missions.
They should have just scrapped all the gameplay in the campaign and made it into a movie.
It is an odd decision because the missions even keep track of the collectibles you find. When a mission starts some icons appear on the screen, stating what and how many collectibles are there to grab. Though the review build doesn’t work anymore, I’m pretty sure you could keep track of this even after completing the missions. So there’s no reason not to be able to go back when you know you missed something.
After completing the campaign, you can go back to the open world section but the main mission icons remain greyed out.
I’m 100% positive that there are no missable collectibles. It’s open world like farcry while you can’t replay a mission you will be able to go back to those areas.
Like IGN but worse.
they didn’t get early access, they got reviewer copies. big differance.
