In Halo 5 you can order the AI to go into Phantoms. If the Phantom is low enough they actually super jump in. However they do nothing. I found this out trying to look for Easter eggs. Best level to do this is Battle of Sunaion.
This can also happen right at the end of Enemy Lines, there is a Phantom.
Also I haven’t tried this in Co-Op, only Solo.
PS I was wondering if someone joined in game while the AI was in the Phantom will they spawn in it, since you can drop in out of Co-Op?

Yeah probably, cut content like Halo Reach, you could drive a Phantom or Pelican as an Easter Egg but it was obviously cut content.

This proves that only sanghelli and spartan IIs can drive phantoms.

It is literally canon that ODST’s can drive Phantoms as well. They do it in Halo 3: ODST. Also, those are Spartan IV’s in that clip.

Well Buck was an ODST and he’s the one who jumped in the Phantom. Coincidence? I think not.
