Like most of you guys, I find it very difficult to choose between all these layouts,I asked myself: what are the most important things use without leaving the thumb to press it? After analyzing all the controls I found that there is not enough button on xbox controller, there is too many important features to use now, with the addition of AA’s and sprint that were not in halo 3, we definitely need 2 more buttons.

You can buy one of these on ebay: Sending your own controller to the seller, and he will ship it back to you with modification. or You can buy it new, with modification.

That was the easy and expensive way.

I’m gonna show you the ‘‘hard’’ and cheap way to make your own controller.

I’m gonna show you where you can find the information to make your own ‘‘extra button controller’’.

In that video he show you how to do this for one button, but you can do it for 2 button on the other side of the controller. Also, he had to use a drill to make a hole in the controller, If you don’t have one, don’t go buy one, just use a pointy knife and make the hole by turning in circle, it take 3 minutes to do it.

The gear you absolutly need to do this :
Soldering Iron: 6$

2x Momentary Push Button: 3$

Screw driver for xbox 360 1,50$

I highly suggest you to just go in an electronic shop to find these , its about the same price and you don’t have to wait for the shipping.

SO… yes you can take one of your old controller to do this or a new one. The problem with old controller is that the right thumbstick is very loose, isn’t it!? Good news, now that you have all the gear in your hands… Now I’m gonna show you where to find the information for replacing the left or right thumbstick.

this is not illegal! this is basicly the same as buying the Razor onza! If it was illegal it would not be on the market.

I’m rather sure discussion of modding of your Xbox hardware is permitted by the forum rules. I understand you tried to help, but this thread will get locked because it breaks the rules.

But that person selling the modded controllers demands quite a lot for one. For that price, you can just buy a Razer Onza that is designed with two extra buttons and is an officially licensed controller, so you have no fear of breaking any rules for using it.

That person making those controllers doesn’t have an official license from Microsoft unlike Razer. That means buying a modded controller from him is against the Xbox Live Terms of Use as well as modding your own controller. He is getting money from selling modified Xbox hardware without a special permission from Microsoft, so yes, what he is doing is illegal. The fact that something is sold on the internet doesn’t make it any more legal.

Ok sorry guys if I made a mistake about this post, I’m just sick of seeing all complaints about the control layouts, I’m just trying to find a solution.

I already have a Razer Onza Tournament Edition Xbox 360 controller. I think I’ll be fine when selecting a button layout for Halo 4.
