Halo Online just released a trailer and everyone is geeking out about how amazing it looks. Halo Online looks like the best Pay To Win shooter I’ve ever seen, but it is not a “Halo” game, and it is definitely not in any way at all the Halo 2 rehash you guys have been hating on 343 for not making. It has microtransactions, loadouts, unbalanced weapons, the unjustly hated sprinting mechanic, and it also appears to have armor abilities along with equipment. Oh, it also has a few hideous armor variants .
This is the Halo game you said you would never buy, and would boycott 343 if they dared even think about making. Now that someone is making it you guys all want it more than anything. You’re all flippin’ hypocrites!
If 343 allowed you to run around with extended magazines on your ARs you’d all be spewing and hating and throwing death threats in the forums! Halo online is everything that was wrong with Halo 4 on steroids!
Just to be clear, I also would like Halo Online to come to the US. It looks like the best FTP shooter ever. I’d finally be able to play some form of Halo with my bros who don’t have an XBOX, but this is so not the kind of Halo game that anyone wants. Everyone will be sick of it as soon as all the people with money get on to the servers and buy the winner version of the BR.
Anyway, don’t go hating on 343 when they make the Halo game you’ve been asking them for, but then throw praise at the people making the Halo game you said you’d poop on and set on fire.

exactly man, it sad really. this community is sad at times.
first since a lot of time finally there’s a good halo for pc ,second yes i would hate this game if it comes like a halo for xbox one.
but yeah the game looks really good because its for pc, it isn’t going to ruin the franchise like it happened on 4, just let the pc gamers enjoy finally since a lot of time a good halo not spartan assault or something like that

So Halo wars and Spartan assault Aren’t halo?
THis is a spin off halo game, Something completely different from the Core Halo games,
Micro-transaction could in theory work they work in Wareface, and many other FTP FPS
Loadouts Can work in certain situations,
You have no idea how the weapons are balanced, Again wareface Is a FTP FPS and is actually extremely balanced with all its mechanics
That being said i get what you’re getting at And i agree. I think if anything this prove so much so that Halo Fans just dont know what they want.
But people ned to realize Halo Online is not supposed to play like the core halo games its a completely different breed of game, and is meant to be this way, it was likely built from the ground up to be this way.
And i agree I would love to play this game I really hope it does well and the open the beta up to more markets.
But i disagree I very much do want this game and so do others, its not that we dont like the core halo games, its just interesting seeing different kinds of games in the halo universe.
@deltaunithink
I’m not saying there’s anything terribly wrong with this game, but it is ditching a lot of the things that make Halo so great.
I’m also totally fine with it because it’s not a main entry in the series and you don’t have to pay for it, unless you want to win. If this came to the US I would download it in a heartbeat.
My point though is how hypocritical it is to shower this game with praise, but hate on Halo 5 for expanding upon Halo’s classic mechanics while keeping it perfectly balanced. People exclaimed that simply adding sprint to the game keeps it from even resembling Halo (which is so not true), and that armor abilities ruined Halo: Reach (also not true), but Halo online has sprint, armor abilities, and equipment and everyone loves it.
It just shows how shallow-minded internet users can be at times. But give those users more time to digest Halo Online, and they’ll start being more sensible. The same thing happened with Halo 5 Guardians. On the Twitch stream when it was revealed, as soon as Sprint, Smart Scope, and Spartan Abilities were revealed, the chat went insane with “HALO RUINED, 343BOLA, 343 RUINED HALO, HALO IS DEAD, Whelp time to buy Advanced Warfare, Is this advanced warfare?, CALL OF HALO, LOL THIS LOOK TERRIBL”, and that chat riot was truly frustrating. However, here we are in a time when Halo 5G has digested with everyone, and people have much more sensible viewpoints about the game.
Just as Spartan Abilities, Smart Scope, and Sprint were factors that made people unjustly hate Halo 5 Guardians at the first reveal, the facts that Halo Online is based on Halo 3, is on PC, and isn’t made directly by 343, makes people unjustly love it at its first reveal.
It’s just something of a first impressions syndrome.
@Graham N Cody
The guy with the mauler sprints towards the guy coming up the grav-lift, and the guy at the beginning of the trailer sprints off the ledge, but that’s kinda besides the point. The game has everything else the people hated about Halo 4, but worse.

Meh, screw this game. Looks awful.

I dont think its ditching anything its just a different kind of game, Its not the Arena shooter of the core halo franchise its something different and its meant to be, If halo was built this way then yeah its most definitely ditching a lot of what the previous games are. But its not.
ANd I totally disagree Not all FTP are Pay to win games Like i said Wareface is extremely well balances base weapons are still viable, getting the “modded” weapons are also balanced. these other weapons are mean for specific play styles this does not make any “better” then the other just different they all function in different ways, and could very well be Extremely balanced.
Oh i agree People just dont know what they want.

I dunno, I think for Halo to retain its incredible replayability it has to have equal starts and lots of cool weapons to pick up off the map. Halo 4 got old kinda quick because a lot of the weapons were essentially just re-skins. Since you could spawn with any kind of base weapon they couldn’t be too drastically different or it would have caused even more balancing issues.
Again, Halo Online having loadouts doesn’t bug me since it’s not a main Halo entry. If this was a entry in Halo’s story and you had to pay 60 bucks for it then I would be quite disappointed, but it’s MP only and it’s free, so it’s fine by me. Even if they charged 15 bucks for it on XBLA it wouldn’t bother me too much. So long as they don’t pull this stuff with the main series that I actually care about.
I do agree with your second point actually. Not all FTP games are pay to win; it’s just that the grand majority of them are, so I wouldn’t get my hopes up about this one. There are a few that allow you to buy weapons but still keep them balanced, and I’m fine with that for the most part. The biggest problem is that FTP games that are actually well balanced from the start have a hard time staying that way.
The game is made to be better suited for Russian gamers. 343i said that if they brought it outside of Russia, changes would be made to better fit the demographic. They also conformed that Halo Online will not come out for the XBOX One. We do not know the fullest extent of the micro transactions in the game yet. We also have no evidence that this game is good or not due to the fact that no one outside of 343 has played it yet. At this point 343 has had some pretty big balls saying things that Halo fans think that they won’t hold up ex. Dedicated Servers for custom games on Halo 5 when dedicated servers are badly playable on the MCC. 343 is being a lot more adventurous and would not be doing these things if they were not confident in these new products and changes, especially with a community that goes on riots when anyone uses the word “change.” IF Halo Online is to come outside of Russia, we should expect changes to better suit that region of the world. I, for one, am excited to see what 343 is bringing to the table with all these upcoming games and books. We just have to wait to see what the Russian community says about the game. Only then people can have evidence of the game being good/bad.

Do spartan assault and Halo wars suffer re-playability? Halo 4 fail because it was built to a a core halo game with less then core halo mechanics implemented in poor ways.
This is a game built from the ground up to be something completely different fro the core halo games.
THis is going to play like a different game its just set in the halo universe.
Then its a good thing it not, agreed
There are plenty of F2P that have implemented very good and balanced gameplay mechanics, and most of them are extremely popular in Russia.
Its all about how the micro transactions work, Weapons are balanced with trade offs, no weapon becomes superior, It come down to a persons play style.
Player 1 is a QCB type player
Armor QCB bonus
weapon QCB varients
Etc etc
Player 2 is a tank player who enjoy Mid range combat
Armor Higher defense bonus/armor plating
Weapon higher damage boost
etc etc
But there is a trade off for choosing different variants
Im not quite sure how the armor will work
But formt he looks of things the weapons will have penalties to other parts of the weapons stats when others gain bonuses
EX
the DMG assault rifle
+2 Damage
-2 Accuracy
-2 Rate of fire
while also reducing magazine size
All the weapons are balanced this way
this is a similar way in which warface balances with weapons and mechanics
What is this Halo Online you speak of…
…and where are the hypocrites who like it?
I dont want it and im basically only into halo now for the campaign

Quite frankly, I do not want that game. It sounds awful. I’m glad Halo 5 is going to have Arena-like gametype/gameplay.

Really, the only reason I want it is because it already exists, and it looks pretty fun. If I had been part of the team that decides what Halo things get made Halo Online would have been the first thing thrown in the recycle bin. Right after Spartan Assault, that is.

Well, to me all those things are just not Halo-y. I don’t think there should be class systems to any degree in Halo. Of course, people will always prefer to use which ever weapons they are good with, but that’s a bit of a different matter. Halo’s level playing field is one the reasons it’s so darn good, and it’s what makes it different from other shooters.
Anyway, I totes understand what you’re saying. It’s not supposed to be a traditional Halo so it shouldn’t be judged that way. I just think that any Halo game that deviates so drastically from Halo’s base mechanics can hardly be called a proper entry in the series. Either way I don’t really have a problem with Halo Online existing. I’m totally cool with it.
