You all need to chill out.

Like, seriously.

Whenever I browse the forums all I see is people complaining about the Master Chief Collection instead of maturely and constructively pointing out the flaws of the game. It’s like this community has been overrun with three year olds crying over not getting any candy for Halloween. It’s pathetic.

And truth be told, it is not 100% 343i’s fault that this community is falling apart; it is the immature generation or Halo gamers as well. Seriously, when will you guys learn?

People whine about 343i giving players a broken game- do I seriously need to remind you that the Master Chief Collection is one of the first games ever released on the newest console? There is bound to be complications that will last awhile, why many of you cannot figure that out is beyond me.

People are complaining about development, yet how many of you know how to code for the newest generation of Xbox consoles?
People are complaining about networking, yet how many of you know how networking works for the newest generation of Xbox consoles?

If you do not know what you are talking about, stop making a fool out of yourselves people! I have been playing halo for 12 years now, yet I am patient with a game I expected to be picture perfect myself. Yet I am understanding that with new consoles, there are bound to be complications both off and on the market. Why can’t any of you understand that?

The MCC isn’t exactly one of the first games. There have been a smattering of other games released before Halo that weren’t broken.

And you also have to realize that they don’t have to write the code for any of the games in the Collection, because it’s already been written. There’s so much less that needs to be written, all you need to do is bring it into one interface and troubleshoot the crap out of it, which obviously wasn’t done.

Look at Halo CE on the original Xbox. How many issues did that have on launch, with a brand new line of consoles and a brand new game? They even had to write all the code for that! Shocking!

To call the MCC anything less than a trainwreck would be sugarcoating. I tried searching for a match in three different playlists the other day while playing with a friend, and waited half an hour before quitting out. For a game that went Gold in September, this is an utter embarrassment.

You are absolutely right.

And yet the MCC is four games across two previous console generations with different layers of coding all trying to run at the same time on a new console. It is easy to make assumptions about how “easy” it is to get the game running, but unless you were actually making it how would you know? Evidently it was more complex than that. But everybody is an armchair developer these days, so everybody is an expert.

@thetimewarptrio & DecepticonCobra
Whether the development was easy or not is irrelevant. Either way, 343/Microsoft clearly dropped the ball by releasing the game before it was ready, and the many people who were eagerly anticipating the MCC have every right to be angry about its abysmal launch and ongoing issues. Of course, I agree with the OP that our complaints/criticisms need to be mature and constructive, but the point stands that we shouldn’t have had these issues to complain about at all.

Complexity of code however isn’t the issue. It’s the troubleshooting. You simply cannot release a product that is unfinished or that doesn’t work to consumers. It’s like getting a car with a bad ignition switch. Sure, I’m not a mechanic, but I know a product that isn’t finished when I see it or when it happens to me. And I have a right to point that out.

Compare it to the GM recalls for the cars with bad ignition switches. Sure, the car works most of the time. But the time it didn’t, the car caught fire. And the consumers have a right to complain about that.

If you want to quote me where I said people shouldn’t feel upset over a bad launch, I invite you do to so.

Does anybody else out there think this thread is a little bit late?? I dunno, maybe I’m spoiled because I’ve been mostly playing fully-functional campaigns and enjoying the heck out of them. When I do jump on multiplayer it generally works fine. Certainly not broken, although I feel bad for those that were not able to play.

Also, doesn’t this thread technically belong in the MCC Forums?

The fact that the community’s incompetence is still a problem even after the release of MCC is what brought up this thread.

I still don’t see that part…

And people should be upset over this particular launch. Halo’s multiplayer is already a huge draw for many, and we were promised dedicated servers. Working dedicated servers. Death threats, lawsuits, and demands to have personnel fired are a bit much, but being upset over what was supposed to be a revolutionary port/collection…that’s perfectly understandable and acceptable.

Death threats a bit much? That’s an understatement.

Eh, just a bunch of Internet brats hiding behind a username as usual. Nothing new there.

Tell that to the people who get them.

343 can choose to take them seriously if they want (better safe than sorry right?), but realistically speaking, I doubt anyone is serious about them. They’re just punks who can only talk crap trough the Internet.

Really? Have you gotten so many death threats that you can afford to be meh about them? Death threats are scary and NEVER warranted.

Then maybe I need to get a few to understand…but I don’t tend to take the remarks of Internet nerds very seriously.

Death threats need to be taken seriously no matter what, it’s the ones you ignore that turn out to be dangerous in the end. People have been driven from their homes over the past year because of death threats. You don’t want to get any. 100% you don’t want anything close

Agreed.

There is no excuse for death threats. I hope each and every person who did such to 343i gets slapped with karma.

It’s their job to worry about the game’s development, not ours. I’m a consumer and when I pay the 60$, I expect the game to be in a working state, allowing me to use all of it’s features once I boot it up. Releasing an unfinished product should be against the law and people should be able to sue all those devs out there who are cheating their costumers.

Bottom line: If the game doesn’t work, don’t release it, take more time working on it instead of spending money on fancy trailers, hyping people over a messed up game.

Stick to the subject. The game is not working, they released it regardless and haven’t gotten it to a 100% working state. That’s about it.

We’re not talking about the community and how they overreacted, we’re talking about how we didn’t get what we paid for.
