You A Long Time Fan COMPLETELY Over it, Too?

Well said and I completely agree.

I am starting to feel that with the Certain Affinity announcement, it may be the start of 343 taking a less active roll in Halo’s future.

I do have a little hope again, but sadly I have been burned so many times now.

I think what frustrates me the more I think about it is the use of the phrase ‘live service’ to literally describe adding content that older games had on day one.

Live service implies adding new content and expanding on the existing offerings to keep things interesting. The idea that they will constantly be expanding the game over time. It is an interesting marketing ploy, they clearly knew they were miles off being ready to release the full product, and so they decided to seek the lead time to finish the game as being a ‘live service’.

That is absolutely unacceptable and it shouldn’t be allowed to fly by Microsoft. The use of live service as a means of giving themselves more time to finish the core content of the game. There has not been one thing about this game to me so far that suggests it is a live service.

If I can give a bit of a stupid and maybe very confusing analogy; This is a half built rental property, it has a roof and four walls, but doesn’t have any heating, no water, no appliances and no furniture. But don’t worry dear tenant, those will be added over the course of your tenancy agreement as we offer you an exciting live service, where we strive to constantly improve your property over time. Oh, and by the way, we botched the roof too so it will probably leak (BTB fail)

2 new maps in 1 year, forge beta after almost a year, KotH after over half a year and so much more that actually means less. This has proven to me that 343i was never prepared if even capable of a Live Service or Free to Play model. I don’t like those types of games, but this has got to be the worst experience I’ve had because of the lack of content.

I would gladly pay $60 for an actually content complete game that isn’t filled with microtransactions where you either pay or starve.

I ended up canceling my game pass because the game is not what I expected it was going to be, the leveling system and earning XP, getting new armor in Halo Infinite, it’s just terrible. If and when the game gets co-op, I may renew my game pass.
You have to play the so call free game and from what see spend real cash on the premium battle pass to get armor, but in the campaign that we pay for, yes pay for, there is no leveling up, there is no way to earn new armor, it’s just bull.

I would also like to say the maps in this game are some of the worst, unimaginative maps in a halo game. Most of the maps are small, perfect for grenade spamming and without friendly fire that’s all is now. Friendly fire is good in games, why remove it.
I have also mentioned in the past I can not stand the movement in this game, it feels like I’m on ice, but wearing skate guards, There are many problems with the game, coding problems, and the more they try to fix things it’s only going to get worse. That’s my personal opinion.

No ranked team slayer kills it for me, I feel there is nothing to play for.

Yes, i’m over it.
I’m over their being no separate ranked team slayer playlist.
I’m over the solo duo controller playlist being 200ms games, every game. Can’t compete. It’s ridiculous. That’s if I find a game.
I’m over the no collision. I’m over my spartan looking like an old faded dirty garbage bin. Nerfs that are not needed.
I bought the campaign for my son, and I so regret giving them any money. He actually has more fun in MCC.
I will not spend another cent on this game. So good thing it is free to play. Their loss.

I think I’m just over the way gaming has headed in general. Now Halo has succumbed to what was feared.

Long time Halo fan here. I’m over it. 343 have proven time and time again their incompetence.
10 years of saying “we’ll do better next time” and this game is supposed to be their Magnum Opus?
Never thought I’d say this but Halo 5 makes Infinite look like a masterpiece!

To be honest, I was over it by H4.

over 1800 days… played…/365… 4.9 years of your life were in halo?
what.
what.
what.
what.

Did you mean Infinite makes 5 look like a masterpiece? I’m going to assume that’s what you meant considering the rest of the of your post. If not then just disregard the following… except for the last sentence.

Not to me it doesn’t. 5 was a little more content complete at launch than Infinite, but it sure wasn’t a masterpiece. To me at least. Infinite has a better campaign both in how it plays and story. Not saying that the Infinite campaign is without faults, but I’d play through it again before 5 any day. I also greatly prefer the more classic halo style of the art and gameplay compared to 5. Infinite is just lacking in content, to which 5 didn’t do much better day one. Customization is another point to argue because 5 had more total options day 1, but it was all locked behind RNG loot boxes you were encouraged to buy. Infinite has more options for customization, but basically everything is locked behind a paywall which isn’t really any better.

No matter what the current state of Infinite is not acceptable for what it is supposed to be and was advertised as. Especially the original talks on player customization.

I suppose the trouble is those truly in charge will always be looking at what’s doing the best in money terms and without looking at what Halo actually means to the fans. A live service means they’ve already killed it for many. A dependable package one that is bought would have been better because that would have signified something owned at least and that I feel would have made fans happier

They had to go this route in the end though because as a must they have to have a large enough audience possible so that guaranteed money always coming in for them. The trouble is I’m not sure it can be impressive amounts of money they do have coming in so this approach has really only hurt the franchise and trust has been pissed away. All for the pursuit of numbers. To think I trusted 343 a little this time because I thought they couldn’t be that stupid that they would push in such a stupid directions yet again but they’ve impressively outdone themselves

Not all things should be treated the same and Halo is now a very sad rotting example of this and the disrespect shown to one of the very best franchises. Truly a shame but very much deserved heartache for 343

Custom games never work for me. It makes me play a random map and default settings no matter what. I play on an xbox one s. Idk if it’s different based on what you’re playing on.

As ineffectual as Infinite feels today, I can honestly say I think this series is in the best place it’s been in years. Maybe even the past decade altogether.

That’s not to say it’s in a great place, because it isn’t. But with Infinite, there’s at least a pipeline for new content to come without literal years in between. Plus, the core gameplay foundation of Infinite stands head and shoulders above both H4 and H5, in my opinion. I honestly think this game will become something great. It might take literally 2-5 years before it gets there, but that’s more hope than I had when H5 came out and I hated it right out of the gate.

I can maybe get Infinite being the disappointment “straw that broke the camel’s back”, sure. It isn’t what we all would’ve liked for it to be, and it pretty clearly isn’t the thing that’s going to make Halo into a top five all-platforms game franchise again. But if you truthfully have ridden out the last decade of Halo, what’s going on today feels inconsequentially negative by comparison to the worst stretches of that. 2017-November 2021 was a miserable slog, apart from the gradual improvements that came to MCC during that time.

But how many games can pull a No Man’s Sky and feasibly go on that long and get revived? I agree that Infinite has a good core, but I currently have little reason to believe that 343 will make truly substantial additions in a timeframe to really maintain interest. And that’s coming from someone that loved H5’s forge and hopes that Infinite’s knocks it out of the park. People have already waited 6 years.

Halo 5’s Forge and Custom Games browser darn near made that game immortal in a way, with the shenanigans that people created but that Forge came 1 month after launch and steadily improved bit by bit nearly every month for a year after that. Looking at their timeframe we’ll be lucky to get forge by Christmas if not 2023. This game might not completely die like Battlefield 2042, but things need to speed up a little bit.

Dude, i’ve been the biggest halo fan forever. This game though… it’s dead for me. Until they try the battle royale, because it’s made by someone other than 343 at this time who can maybe have potential at pulling people back into the games population. ORRRR they need to add way more maps, they need to add forge already, so people can make better maps than the actual developers themselves, they also need more matchmaking type such as a simple Doubles matchmaking playlist… Also, what the heck is the delay in the campaign multiplayer??? It’s going to release a year later after the game has been released. That is an embarrassing failure.

It just seems like at this point there is no creativity or innovation going on in the company. I mean don’t they have veterans of halo to draw out ideas form them, can’t they view these forums and see how much dislike is in them and maybe contact people who post their dislikes or gather up intelligence and information from these posts and actually do what the community is asking for. There are just so many failures at this point it’s unforgivable and I can’t support the game until something drastic happens.

They have lost a HUGE halo fan, and I am just saddened to say I can’t play this game anymore and that it is almost officially dead. There needs to be a bigger reaction when the freaking MCC outpaces Halo Infinite, the flagship game on population… it’s inexcusable.

The nail in the coffin for them now is about to be this 6 month season. No current game on the market would DARE to do this, because they would never be competitive and they will lose out to everyone else for not adapting 10/10 times. There is literally one mistake after the other and absolutely no learning being done at all.

I wish they could just take the hit on the chin like a man, admit the faults, listen to the community, bring in talent, and fix the dang game to it’s maximum potential.

Rant over… I’m out. Peace Halo

I agree that the core gameplay of Infinite is good and Infinite will be a great game… someday. But that is the issue, someday it will be good. That at base level is very bad. This was meant to be the best Halo experience in a decade and a return to form for the series. Instead it was just more 343i era disappointment coated in classic Halo paint.

A game should not be released with 4 game modes when the franchise is known for dozens. It shouldn’t be touted as the definitive Halo experience and fall flat. Never exclaim that the customization will be the best it’s ever been with all in game unlockable content that isn’t behind a paywall to just bottleneck and monetize customization to hell. Don’t move a series known for growing content to a Free to Play and Live Service Model, but not provide the content this model represents.

Halo Infinite should not require over a year to become a decent or good game. It should have been from day one.

Its good to see I’m not the only one been with Halo since H1 dropped have countless dollars in merch, toys custom toys I made, ost, and art I feel like selling all of it at this point.

No one should have given them the benefit of the doubt after halo 4, the disaster that was MCC or the trash that was Halo 5.

I’m shocked so many people actually managed to over look those 3 disasters and get hype and assume infinite would be good.

I am proud to say the last penny they ever got from me was for the MCC in 2014.

Well, I’m one of the old guard. I have been with Halo since the first month CE was out. I have a good amount of merchandise ranging from OST, action figures, posters, and many special editions and such. Halo literally got me back into gaming as I sorta got “depressed” per say, after Sega got out of the hardware business. I’m a HUGE Sega fan …SEGA!!!

Anyways, I haven’t played Infinite in about a month. Nor has any of my friends. My entire friends list has literally stopped playing it too…like EVERYONE! I’m just so done with many of the issues with this game (including achievements bugs that claim to be fixed!) I feel like issues with this game are not even a priority for them to fix either…But probably my biggest one and I’d say 2/3 of my friends list as well, is the lack of a Ranked Team Slayer playlist. I don’t understand why the heck there isn’t one!!! It’s literally been the most popular (or VERY CLOSE to it) playlist in practically every Halo game!! Yet, here we are…6+ months in and nothing… Just absolutely mind boggling!!

I have praise 343I when I feel they deserve it but I have also been very critical of them too. I don’t understand there thinking at all! I REALLY question the people running the show there. Not just for infinite but for the entire time they’ve existed. Most of their decisions are just perplexing! Not just with the games here either (talking mainly about the TV show) I thought with Infinite that they FINALLY would listen to the majority of the fans. They did some good changes and most people would agree that the gameplay of Infinite is pretty darn good!! But by the Gods!! Did they fail HARD on just about everything else with the game.

Like others here, I do feel like eventually the game will be pretty solid, though it may take 3-5 years! honestly, it wouldn’t shock me if It took that long or longer, but by then I don’t think it will matter unfortunately.

I’ll pop on every now and then with a few friends and we’ll play a few games of some social team slayer & BTB and such, but the lack of Ranked playlists in particular really kills it for us. Social can’t hold our interest for very long.

So unfortunately for me, Halo Infinite is pretty much dead until Ranked Team Slayer comes in. If it doesn’t, well…this game will compete for my least played Halo game ever that’s for sure.

It makes me really sad to see what has happen to Halo. I don’t expected it to be the #1 game like it was back in the day, but I definitely think it should be relevant! And right now, I sorta feel like it isn’t… Make a Halo game with the features and modes that the majority of the fans want FIRST!!! THEN, introduce new modes and such. You don’t have to reinvent the wheel or anything here. Not trying to sound like a know it all, but it really isn’t that hard in my opinion.

I don’t wish to see anyone lose there job, but I think it’s time for a complete “clean house” at 343I and/or put a other developer in charge of Halo. Sorry for the long post, but the state of Halo really has made me sad :disappointed:
