Yoroi Armor and Body Types Actionable Feedback

As others have stated, the body type options are pretty lack-luster. Armor doesn’t change, limbs don’t change, pretty much nothing but the waistline changes which doesn’t feel very significant.

The Yoroi armor already has pretty limited customization in itself, which is fine because if you like it you probably like it how it comes. Unfortunately though this further reduces the body type option function because changing your body type has no effect on your body in the Yoroi armor core. (In other words, this armor core pretty much only exists for men.)

That said, the action to be taken to correct this is pretty simple.

  1. A body type should be available that is similar to the Reach/Halo4/Halo5 female Spartan body type. Anything along these lines would be both lore friendly and appreciated by the female gaming community. (Note: Lore friendly because Spartans have had this body type in the past, and for them to suddenly not have the same body type would be weird. Think cinematics, in Campaign it won’t make much sense for the female Spartans we all know to suddenly have a different body type after Halo 5.)

  2. Yoroi, though I know is mostly armor and not a lot of undercoating is visible, should change with body type as well. To have a female voice in the Yoroi armor feels quite odd just because you can’t really select that body type. The Yoroi core needs to represent. Not everyone has the same build, and there’s no way Spartan suits come in one-size-fits-all.

  3. This brings me to the last point, bringing the two things together, armor itself should change shape and size based on body type selected. It doesn’t make sense for everyone to have the same size armor if their bodies are different in shape and size. Master Chief and Kelly don’t wear armor of the same sizes. In fact Locke doesn’t even wear armor the same size as Chief and they’re both male.

Bonus point: I just want to say to everyone concerned with “will the hitbox match the body shape if it is too different” and stuff like that… That in Halo 2 you could literally play as an Elite with a completely different body type in Matchmaking, AND Female Spartans have existed in multiple Halo games with no effect on hitbox and hitbox-to-visuals discrepancy. If we can have custom armor sets that don’t change the hitbox, this will hardly affect it. We’re not asking for a Jorge body type that would definitely need a different hitbox here, we’re talking minor size differential.

Okay everyone, if you want to see these changes leave a like so hopefully this gets seen by the Devs. Keep the discussion cordial. Thank you.

Either, 343i is lazy, or there might be some kind of outside influence pushing for this, or maybe the influence is even inside 343. But I never felt the bodies in halo were sexualized really.

I thought the body types made sense in Reach - 5, but this is a little too much Halo 3 levels of forced androgyny, when we’re not even Spartan IIs.
If they add an actual Mark VI armor core (I’d love this) it’d then make sense to make the bodies more androgynous since I guess we can say they’re maybe Spartan IIs, but we ignore it for multiplayer balance reasons.

But yeah, at least we can choose a voice but as cool as it is I’d rather have my spartan be dead silent to everyone.

Why would the trans community have a problem with noticeable body types? I can get having a problem with labeling body types, because maybe not everyone is comfortable with the label. But different people have different body types. Not trying to stir the pot, I’m just curious.

@SLySLimSLimy
The separation of voice and body type is already a perfect way to include the trans community. I am not saying to create a body type and label it “female”, I am saying to create a body type more “feminine.” Perhaps it would be better for me to word it “petite” or “curvy” or something. Point is, if you want a manly voice and a womanly body, or vice versa, it should be possible. They’ve already separated voice and body, so they just need to supply a body type that is actually visually “feminine”/curvy/petite/high in estrogen.

@SuperKittyLeia I’m with you. I think the trans community would probably welcome more diversity in the body-type arena. Especially since they’re just labeled 0, 1, and 2 right now.

I do agree that the Yoroi needs some kind of visible scaling to the body type, irregardless if they add any more body types. The default changes already don’t really change a ton about the Mark VII and V[B] cores but at least there is a little difference.

Careful about pointing the blame at other groups on the forums. There is a particular mod that will shut down body type discussion if we delve into this kind of discussion. Let’s just focus on the body types as they relate to Halo and how the armor (especially Yoroi) fits (or doesn’t fit) on them.
