yet another topic about armor abilities.

“Armor abilities are bad, mmkay.”

I’ve heard a bunch of different views on Reach’s AA’s, but I’ve never actually expressed my views on them, especially not here because I always just lurk, but here goes…

Nothing is perfect, especially when there are two opposing parties bickering at each other and not gaining anything out of it. In my eyes, armor abilities are not the atrocities in which most people make them out to be. Yes, there are AL spammers, Active Camo-ers camping in a busy corridor with the sword or rocks, and jet-packers raining rockets down onto you, but all of this is easy to get by if you know how to approach the situation.

That solution is pretty simple, so I’ll leave it to you all to know what it is.

Something that always made me strive for my goal in life or everyday situations is a challenge. It makes me work harder and the outcome is usually greater and makes me feel more accomplished. The only ability I ever use is Sprint, it gets the job done and gets me to point A to point B. When I’m pitted against an opponent that uses AL, or jet-pack, I may be at a disadvantage because I’m not temporarily shielded from damage or able to fly overhead and get an easy kill while my enemy is still looking in the sky for me. I face these challenges all the time in Slayer and BTB and when I win the firefight, I feel better about it.

Don’t get me wrong, I still curse and shake my fist violently when I get a rocket crammed down my throat from an airborne enemy, or double-teamed because I was waiting for the armor locker to run out of energy. The other opponents near the armor locker is a challenge.

Sorry for the book, but I had to post a positive opinion on AA’s.

TL;DR AA’s are a challenge, shut yer faceholes.

AA’s should have always been pick ups only, just like Halo 3 equipment.

1)Attack AL people in a group
2)Kill the AL’s teammate
AL FIX

As someone who LOVED what equipment brought to the table, I HATE AAs. Now don’t get me wrong, I don’t hate them because of them being Overpowered or anything of the sort. I hate them because of how limited it makes the battlefield become, especially when you couple it with the loss of power-ups(camo and OS), the loss of Dual-wielding, the loss of extra grenade types, and the loss of interactive maps (Doors, switches and bridges)

Back in H3 CRAZY things would play out ALL the time, whether it was being 1shot grabbing Regen and throwing it down, just to turn around and destroy your attacker. Or maybe it was rolling a perfect power-drain into the enemies base where they were all camping. Maybe it was throwing a trip mine at an approaching warthog.

Bungie stripped the limitless possibilities which Equipment and power-ups allowed for in favor of something simpler, that you received off spawn, and in hindsight, made the maps less dynamic and less interesting overall.

Go play H3 and you’ll see. Sure the graphics aren’t as good, sure the sound quality isn’t as good, the netcode isn’t either. The veto system is flawed, and the population is dwindling. But one things for sure, the battles are INTERESTING, Dynamic and just plain Fun. More then what can be said for Reach, where there is no incentive on the maps (Aside from Rocks and Snipes) and the battles are just never surprising.

I was actually about to pick up H3 and play some. I never really used the equipment, but I do like it a whole lot better than the AAs.

So AA’s are good because they are a challenge? I want to fight players not fight the game. INB4 adapt, I adapted pretty well to Default Reach and AA’s, and they ruin gameplay. To be fair, AA’s were never really given a chance when you spawned with them.

For example, here is why AL is bad…

Lol that pic is epic

I have to say… armor abilities are sometimes fun, but i miss the halo 3 days.

Like them, dont like them, they are part of this game and I accepted that the day I first played it, I would honestly be embarrassed to try and have something removed from a game, simply because I could not handle it =/

Apparently that is not a sentiment most others share on forums. Oh well, Halo 4 is around the corner and Im sure people will find something to whine about in that game and I am assuming it wont be AA.
