Servers are empty… So why so big lag?
http://halocharts.com/2013/playlists_halo4.php
I and some friends play game list night, and all of -Yoink- had lag… Not in same home, not o same console, all woos at they home, and all 5 had lag problems… Can you fix that stupid servers? We play BF3 after halo 4, and NO LAG… SO, 343, your servers are stupid or your people are… FIX LAG PROBLEMS, servers are empty, and there is extrem lag… BF3 have 1000000000% more players then halo, and on EA severs is no lag…
Low population + Peer to Peer hosting + no search filters = a game that teleports randomly more than Deadpool
It gets a bit crazy sometimes… if you want real lag try playing on a 33.6K modem with the dreamcast!

Totally agree.
And don’t forget that H4 uses “Host History” rather than evaluating each players ping time and Up/Down load capabilities for each game:

I gave up on H4 for Halo multiplayer on June 6th and went back to Halo Reach and never suffer the lag issues that H4 infilicted on a regular basis. The lag likely likely explains why they lost 50% ( ~ 200,000) of the multiplayer players in the first week, and then the 95% within 6 months:

But we are getting more DLC maps that we won’t be able to play - which I’m sure makes 343 happy.
Like all people that complain of rampant lag issues, I will say: sounds like a personal problem to me. I mean really, either you don’t know how to establish a clean network, or your ISP isn’t worth what you’re paying.
The fewer players in each playlist, the more I encounter connectivity issues. It’s because the network is connecting me to people I otherwise wouldn’t due to player distance in the world, etc.
If you experience all-round connectivity issues regardless of playlist population, then you need to take a look under your own network’s hood. Check your NAT, see if anyone is hogging your wi-fi or if other’s in the house are straining your bandwidth.

Sorry man but I have the best connection I can buy. I don’t lag much but still lag 1 out of 5 games of H4

Lagging out of 1 of every 5 games is certainly a you problem. That’s waaaaay too high. If you’re limited on ISP options, and have your network as optimized as possible, then online gaming may just not be for you.
All that and awesome connection speed It’s Halo 4 and it’s host selecting system sorry. I have no issues on any other game
I very rarely experience lag when playing Halo 4. I don’t know why so many other people do.

Well the Dreamcast required 56K so…

It’s the game. I live alone and my 360 is connected directly to my modem and it certainly isn’t my connection. http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/2906995641

Your upload speed isnt very fast so people are having to wait for you at times to catch up and most people have fine connection in the game so its definitely either where you live or your connection.

It has nothing to do with this persons connection - 1.5 Mbps upload is fine. The issue is how H4 picks host that is the issue.
Read this for a real world account of where the issue is in H4:

as afar as Lag goes with the Host selection method that 343 refuses to fix.

1.5mb is half the 360s max limit so if anything it’s average. Plus as I said it has to do with where he lives and where the host is in the world. If it was the game wouldn’t everyone be lagging then? Not just a few people.
Plus 343 cant really fix it since if they were to do anything it wouldn’t be any different without servers, going over the 360’s limits which can’t happen or downgrading the game to use less data like the other games used to since they had worse graphics. All of which cant be done with the 360 or without a full re-release so its down to them not being able to fix it rather than them being lazy which isn’t true at all.
The game will make the person who has the best connection to the majority the host resulting in some people getting lag since they don’t live as close as the others and don’t have as good a connection to the host.
