I checked it up and down now, and I think some ppl are right … the marines in H4 look a bit like Replika-Soldiers. I mean all look kinda same.
I don’t want to start a “oh my skincolour-type is underrepresented” or the “America wants to dominate everything” debate. (Keep in mind there is a Station called “Ivanov-Station” …)
But >> I think we need more different types of marines. There are a lot of different looking humans in our world, and I think they are mixed up in the year 26th century already. And I think that everyone has a reason to fight in the UNSC.
May be it was a lack of disk space … and it was tried to compensate by giving some marines protection-masks.
Never the less: I think it will upgrade a Halo game, if we have more details in this category (again?). (Black and dark colored Marines, female Marines, more asian like marines, more nordic looking marines etc. pp.)
[Also some ppl might be more statisfied > if they see some marines running around that look a bit more like themselves. (But don’t ask me why … I can’t understand that … lol :p)]
I’m sure that there will be enough interracial breeding for everyone to be lovely light shade of brown by the time the 26th century gets here. It’s probably the only way racism will ever end–then we’ll move on to hieghtism or something equally as stupid.
It’s grumping on a high level; because the Infinity can be a ship full of same looking guys (there might be reasons for it).
Also: in the Ivanov Station are a few womans, but not as marines.
I just think: it is statisticly unrealistic that in the 26th century all ppl look so damn similar.
i’d actually want Marine AI that can fight for itself before i’d care about what they look like
the ones in Halo 4 i feel like are pretty good, a hella lot better than reach’s, but it could always be better
i really don’t like babysitting my marines, and i hate it when one falls in combat
they’re supposed to be MARINES, the best of the best, not just some guys that’r there because they can be
if i have my back turned, i want to rely on my marines to cover me, not get shot for me like a secret service agent would for the president
i want them to kill the attacker, not get killed by the attacker
i know i went a bit off topic, but that’s all i are about, having worthwhile marines as support
So you want the Grunts to all have the same methane tanks?
Reach took the first major step in distinguishing enemies (complete armor sets for Elites and Grunts), the first time since CE (curlback Grunts, weaker looking Jackal minors, and squid-head Elites (the Elite on the left)).
It’s the same case with marines.
> The marine palette hasn’t been as diverse as in H4 before as far as I know, so what’s the problem?
That’s a good point but I can clearly remember an Asian marine sitting next to me in a Pelican on Silent Cartographer. The odd thing is that he only spawns on Legendary. Isn’t that interesting?
I also remember my Hog gunners. Not only did they raise their fists when I got enough air but they said their own things (i.e. amigo).
Halo needs to show a bit of culture. All white guys with concessional blacks is being kind of lazy.

They obviously rotated all other marines to more important stations and locations besides the UNSC Infinity.
I believe we saw all sorts of different marines in the E3 trailer last year.
That or the only clear explanation is that spray painted all marines skin to match one color.
I was playing Halo Reach and Halo Anniversary a bit; now iam back in Halo 4 and I noticed that the marines faces look realy different now. First I noticed it near the mammoth. Now I checked the rest … and what the lol … but they look all more different now.
I dunno … was there a patch that fixed a bug (may be in the palette of the marine skins?) or does it make any difference, that I installed Halo 4 on my HDD**?**
Would be nice if everyone checks his Marines, too. Best in missions like the mammoth ride … there is a lot of time and a there are a lot of marines.
… clones are humans, too. And not only second-class humans. There are for example big social problems if the war is over and all clone-soldiers need to start a civil life, if it is even possible. … more problems >< …
No moral, no peace, and in the end you will lose the war that you just won - by your own faults.
[Well, iam happy that my marines are not more clones now .p]
well have 5 will be on the xbox 720, which means; blu-ray equivalent sized CDs, higher ‘next gen’ expectations = higher allocated to budget to meet next-gen demands. so more likely to see more diverse and detailed npcs among many other things. Also i have a feeling microsoft is going to use halo 5 to get people to buy xbox 720. they have control over the franchise, they know it has a huge fan base (and can even still reel in fans from the past), so they’re just going to keep throwing money and resources into it i’m sure.
crossing my fingers for L.A. Noire tier animations and detailed characters.

Beyond the marines, I think some of the officers look like Lasky and some of the scientists like Halsey…
There may be technical reasons as well, but I think the innocent answer is that 343 didn’t have enough time to infuse that level of detail. Perhaps future games will have greater craftsmanship.
Your point is valid. If “soldiers aren’t machines [and are] just people,” they shouldn’t look, or act, the same.
