Only if you are incompetent. You would either have to sit there and get hit or be up against a coordinated team which you would lose if that was the case anyway. Bullets should harm vehicles.

Yes, I’m also aware that you can spawn a BR at REQ 3 and easily hit a moving vehicle from much farther away than most vehicle’s can fire back at you.
You didn’t answer my question, probably because you’re too busy blaming my skill and not considering that maybe I have a point.

And Halo 2, Reach, and 4 were all hitscan.
It takes a constant stream of 3 people with an AR to take down a standard vehicle, not even considering a heavy vehicle.
Now if you’re talking about people inside the vehicle, that’s a different problem

Halo 2 had regen vehicle health, which made it fine.
Reach and 4 had inferior vehicle combat to 2-3.

From a canonical perspective: heavy vehicles such as the Scorpion and Wraith really should not have to be afraid of 5.56 / 7.62 mm. From a gaming perspective: vehicles shouldn’t take so much damage from loadout weapons. But that’s just my $0.02.
My biggest complaint is how easy it is to hijack a vehicle. Spartans are becoming faster and more agile than ever and meanwhile the vehicles haven’t changed a bit (other than becoming more susceptible to rifle fire).

The argument you’ve made is sound, but ultimately gameplay > realism.
Regen health meant the vehicle died when the driver died, and as it took damage, the driver took more damage from all sources. Contrary to popular belief, you can easily teamshot a Halo 3 warthog, you just have to soften it up first. As a huge fan of the vehicle combat in the original trilogy, I think its sad that the depth and finesse of the original trilogy’s vehicle gameplay has been replaced with bullet sponges that survive an average of two encounters before being rendered too damaged to safely use.
Chip damage is an awful system and vehicle combat will remain ruined until it is removed.

It never did make sense to me for the driver to die while the vehicle is completely intact. I prefer vehicle health over the old system, but like you said, they can only survive one or two encounters.

Which in turn dilutes the gameplay.
Think about a regular banshee in Warzone. Think about how incredibly fast it dies, even with the shields, once its on fire.
One person with a DMR (which is the same REQ level as the banshee, doesn’t cost any energy, and has an unlimited amount of spawns) can outright kill a full shielded but on fire (from now on “Full damaged”) vehicle in a matter of seconds, perhaps even without reloading.
Also it’s pretty stupid that if you hit a wall with a wraith your shields go down. The scorpion is too slow. Vehicles used to be much better.

Speaking of shields, have you noticed that shielded vehicles seem to generally perform much better than nonshielded vehicles, even those with a much higher net-health?
I hated regeneration vehicles in 2-3. I could last a whole match without losing my Warthog or scorpion without much trouble.
Destructible vehicles are more balanced for you can’t drive it forever.
Warthogs are not heavily armored. So focused fire from a hail of 7.62mm or 9.3mm are going to end up knocking it out eventually.
But I drive vehicles quite often and you can make a warthog last a long time if you play tactically and not try to be Rambo on wheels.
thank warzone for this. the vehicles had to be balanced with the health system or being on foot in warzone would be unviable every time a ghost starts get shot he flies halfway across the map waits for the regen an then gets back into the fray. this is fine as an even good as it allows that player to make a significantly greater impact on the battlefield throughout that game. he is the hit an run perspective of his team. not to mention it hurts that much more when that ghost is finally taken out. what I described is how halo btb worked up until halo 5 vehicles were powerful. they were incredibly important an the centerpiece of the map.
but this is the thing. regen vehicles would turn warzone into a vehicular warfare simulator. vehicles are almost in every way superior to a spartan on the ground so it would make sense to use them to get a advantage. because the vehicles don’t wear down you can press this advantage for the entire twenty minute match baring stupid decisions an bad luck. lets say halo 5 had regen vehicles so in wz I could harass the enemy team with my ghost for the entire game barring stupid decisions an power weapons.
not only that but even if they killed my ghost I could just spawn another one very quickly an get right back to the slaughter. this means that the only way to reliably kill me. (because in 12 v 12 power weapons are not very reliable) is to counter with your own vehicles. this leads to a spiral. vehicles to counter vehicles an the only way to get ahead is… better vehicles. to counter those better vehicles you need vehicles yourself because those better vehicles are even better at killing puny little players! it’s a spiral that leads to halo 5 vehicle warfare simulator where people who may not have the reqs to burn ten vehicles in a match get shafted an are no help to their team because their weapons aren’t effective at chipping away health. an if they bring out power weapons they’ll get focused instantly due to them being a larger threat. this is also why you see all the anti-vehicle attachments on normal guns is so player can have that make the advantage just that eensy bit smaller than it was. a smg with anti-vehicle actually has a good chance at winning against a ghost.
so in short it had to be like this or wz would be a really poor experience for anyone that didn’t have a ton of reqs! the downside is it -Yoinking!- ruined btb an made vehicles a shell of their former-selves… tanks going down to -Yoinking!- BR spam… nonsense.
