I was both surprised and happy to find players in it at 4:00 AM EST this morning when I woke up early and couldn’t sleep!

I think a better option would be to turn challenges into secondary methods to gain XP.
To unlock event items, you need to gain XP. This can be completed from ANY playlist, however the special event (in this case, the Yappening) is worth double XP, so people who want to unlock stuff faster can do it there. It would still funnel player into the new mode, but people who simply despise the new mode won’t feel forced. Finally, the challenges are just options for more XP and the Ultimate, but aren’t tied to the event.
How are you guys even playing the Yappening? I keep getting a server error message. Is it because I’ve been temp banned on the forums (and now unbanned)?
I’m legitimately curious if me saying negative things on Twitter about the lack of splitscreen co-op has got me banned from playing the multiplayer at all. It won’t let me into a multiplayer game. I’ve tried restarting the Xbox one as well in case that was it. If so, kudos, 343 you win this one. Stay classy, 343.
Fun event mode. Closest feeling to classic Halo that I’ve ever experienced in Infinite. I have spoken.

Most of the event challenges have been play matches, earn xp, etc. Dont think its unreasonable to ask players to play the event mode to earn the event cosmetics.

No, it’s not unreasonable. But I think it’s pretty well-documented that people don’t like current system for how events work. Also, the current system actually force players OUT of the event since the limited challenge slots means you could eventually have 3-4 challenges that aren’t part of the the Yappening.
What I’m comparing is two different ways to look at events.
- “We have some new trinkets available! Play this mode during this time to unlock them!”
and
- “We have some new trinkets available! Play Halo during this time to unlock them! And we have special, limited-time mode that grants 2x XP to help you progress faster!”
Heck, for #2, they could even just make it a happy hour sort of thing.
The point of events is to draw players to the game, not necessarily to that specific mode (of course you WANT people to play the mode, but just being in the game is the important part).
Also this might help cut down on unsupportive behavior in the name of chasing challenges.

My big “issue” with it is time. I would be totally cool having to play the Event Gametype - could even be fun - but completing the challenges often isn’t easy. It’d be a lot more forgiving to be able to play one match each day to get one Tier in the Event Progression, rather than likely missing out entirely. Especially when there’s the issue of the possibility of not having any Event Challenges to progress them in your Challenge lineup.

They weren’t too bad. I was able to finish all the challenges this week, and the weekly challenge for the Wort Weapon Charm in about 12 hours.
I think they should just toss the items in the store if people don’t want to do the challenges for a low price. This way the challenges can still be a fun way to earn them for those who want them to be this way. But those who don’t want to earn them can purchase the ones they want for like 100 to 200 credits, depending on what it is.
That’d be good too. Or, well, good enough. It’d be nice to have all the past items in a store, rather than a rotating store like it is currently.
But anywho, back to work I go.

It’s only second evening playing but I have got the armor coating. I was lucky and had two Yappening challenges at once in my list. I do wonder how it might be for someone who has less time to play in the evenings, there is no way to boost.
Anyway, I’m enjoying it today. The servers got rebooted, and I’m also getting what feels like more balanced matches. So there is chaos, but also feel like your actions contribute something.
I wish these were persistent variety at least to break up the monotony of regular BTB playlist which to me quickly gets old.
josh is right, this event is very cool and very fun too, there is chaos everywhere and everyone has equal chances regardless how skilled they are, this is how events would be played, this way its fun and great to play events and earn rewards with joy. i like the fiesta, i absolute hate the snipers, i also hear people cursing through the mic when snipers is starting.
but the fiesta and sockets are very great and fun to play, people didnt like last man standing and that other had land grab , but this one is fun, i see people saying in the game chat that its very fun and that they like it and are happy and everyone is enjoying it, i also play this a lot more and more than other game modes.
events should be like this in the future , and the winter should definitely get something with christmas and a snowball fight and halloween infection, then is the time to put infection, people play more these fun modes because fun things are happening, also in infection everyone has equal chances its really great, i played in halo 4 flood for the most time and enjoyed that really great, now again with this best event

I came back after 3 months to try this event because I like BTB and fiesta but I’m stuck at level 4 in the event because I don’t have any event challenges. Swapping does nothing so I guess it’s back to not playing this game.
This reminds me of modern warfare, if I remember correctly as a clan officer we could select 1 hour a day (any time) and it was double xp… and we would pick a time we could mostly be on. So we socialize and get a little incentive… maybe halo could do something similar.
Yeah, Titanfall 2 has networks like that too.
I’ve already finished every single challenge and recieved my Wort Weapon Charm with no problems though.

Yes, this is quite annoying. This week I only want to complete the event challenges, but right now 3/4of my challenges are non event challenges. They should totally be separate from the regular weekly challenges.

So because it was easy for you it must be easy for everyone else. All you have done is brag about how you got an event and weekly done on day one. Sounds like a you problem to be honest.
Challenge swap didn’t work for me either. I had to free up a slot by playing another mode to clear some challenges.
