Yappening finally feels like something worthy of being called an event

For a limited event which has a limited mode, it makes sense the challenges relate to playing said event.

It’s BTB Fiesta variants of Slayer, Stockpile, Total Control & CTF.

Also BTB Team Snipers/Shotty Snipes is there.

And they have something called ā€œSkocketsā€ which I can only assume is Skewer and Rockets with (hopefully) low gravity and increased jump height.

You defend it because you’re enjoying it now.

Nope, I agree with this for events I don’t like too.

Im still burnt out from fiesta from the 6 weeks of Tenrai. Having to run around a large map on top of that makes it even worse

The weapon pads have campaign weapon variants on them like the Tracking Rockets and Breacher BR. Very nice.

Not sure if I like this actually. Some varients I Feel are crap ( sniper rifle with 10 round mags that doesn’t instant kill one headshots for instance ).

Also, having look-a-like weapons that makes it difficult to identify what weapon they have is… Somewhat annoying…

Puked in my mouth a little reading that…

I think people’s frustrations with this sort of thing comes from the fact that they’re being railroaded into playing things they don’t like for rewards they do like/want. Which has been a problem that has remained largely unfixed since the first Tenrai event. Funny that…

Events like these should have a spread of modes for players to play. Hey, don’t like Fiesta BTB? Go play Fiesta or another game mode we have for this event. I can understand what @rilakkumakitten is saying, because Rila doesn’t find this event fun and doesn’t want to play it - I had the exact same criticism against LSS, and it’s why I didn’t even bother playing whatever the second Lone Wolves ā€œeventā€ was.

Event design needs a major revamp into the future, provided the game lasts that long with the player-base and all. Forge maps need to be leveraged, and actually unique game modes to those Events need to be put in play. Imagine Grapple-Swords for Tenrai on a Japanese-style map. Or trench-warfare BTB/4v4 for Entrenched. Something that makes the event feel… Special, instead of what it is currently.

And not just participate, but do reasonably well too. While the challenges have gotten significantly easier, they still require players to win or excel in modes they have not interest in. And it doesn’t help that the weekly ultimate rewards is gatekept by the event challenges.

This is seriously the worst challenge system in gaming. I can’t think of another one that so actively ruined the entire MP experience across an entire game.

Maybe if these weren’t some of the easiest event challenges I’ve seen in the game, killing Spartans, winning a fight, accumulating scores, ect. I would actually consider this an actual problem. But they’re a joke to get, so this comes off as more of -Yoink!- then it does as a genuine complaint.

343i is not going to just cater to the game modes you like. You are just one person in a field of many. You’re going to have to learn to deal with it to some extent. There’s far bigger issues then this event that need to be prioritized first.

Also, wasn’t this supposed to be a 4v4 mode with stuff like Kong Slayer? Or are they pulling a Tactical Ops again where they hold back some of the content for the 2nd week?

I don’t know about 4 vs 4, I’ve only seen BTB maps used. But I do remember Kong Slayer being in the event.

It’s pretty fun to be fair. Big team fiesta is pretty safe, but fun. But Skockets and big team snipers is a really welcome break from the norm.

Shame it is on the exact same maps since day one, but at least an enjoyable event.

Just got out of a Skockets match. Rockets everywhere… I like the fact they still give you vehicles like anyone would want to use them in this game mode…

Recorded the match even I had so much fun.

It doesn’t matter if the Event challenges are easy to you. I had a Challenge to score kills/points in FFA. I hate FFA. I never play FFA because I prefer team-based modes. But I thought, sure, lets give it a shot.

I got two kills the entire match. I was smack dab at the bottom of the scoreboard the entire match because I suck at FFA and I don’t like playing FFA. This was such a massive mood killer for my night with Infinite that I quit out within 15 minutes of launching Halo Infinite.

This is the problem with rail-roading players into modes they don’t like. If a person really strongly dislikes BTB, and never plays it, and is now expected to play matches of BTB in a crazy Fiesta format where it’s entirely possible to spawn with the Plasma Pistol and Disruptor back-to-back, it sucks. It makes your gameplay experience less enjoyable.

My suggestion, if they choose to cling to this absurd Challenge system, is to put a variety of game modes that all apply Challenge Progression. The Yappening was supposed to have 3 modes. If you didn’t like one of them, you had two others to try. You will not be able to appeal to everyone, but we can appreciate attempts.

Literally no one is saying that there aren’t larger issues to deal with. This is one of many. But it’s one that can be fixed sooner rather than later.

Frankly, I’ve always found Yapyap to be pretty cringe.

I’ve played only one match so my opinion is completely ignorant… I don’t really play btb and I don’t seem to be excited about this event in the least bit. Still like objective doubles game if that gives you the kind of player I am though.

Why? The rewards are garbage, the cool stuff is paygated in the store as was expected and half of the BTB games don’t even load because of dedicated server error…

What kind of logic is that? If the majority find it fun but that 1% doesn’t, its ultimately a bad event and not fun?

It sounds like a YOU problem bro.
