Seriously a grunt leader in the actual halo universe would be great you got the material right there 343 I know if there were books with him in it some more backstory maybe Easter eggs about him I’d love to see it the idea of a grunt leader to unite them all and to make them something great and now just cannon fodder for players and enemies alike someone to guid the grunts to be their own strong faction without having to be at the mercy of someone else seriously 343 make it happen.
He is, Kinsano, Colony and Yapyap are canon only dead characters like Serina, Johnson, Forge and Comander Jerome (He is not dead, but the likes of him being a Comander are), they would make references to him in future novels and books (Hopefully).

As a whole It isnt canon because of inconsistency (Cutter vs Anders/Shipmaster vs Atriox), however some DLC Characters are canon to the history of the franchise.

Did they imply that Yap Yap is cannon
I’m pretty sure they’ve said that he isn’t cannon, they said something like “It’s completely fictitious” if I remember right. I’m happy that he’s not cannon though, like it’s a cool leader and has some funny lines but I’d hate to see him in a main line Halo game.
