Hey guys I just wanted to give most of the people reading this a nice big pat on the back.
Yesterday night, I got on these forums expecting the usual complaints and 343 hate/flame fest I always see, and I was very pleasantly surprised.
What I saw impressed me alot, I saw both people who supported 343’s actions/realize they wont change and those who wanted change actually having INTELLIGENT DEBATES! There was very little flaming, 343 actually got a little praise, and what people did say against what they have done wasn’t flaming… it was well structured and thought out like all constructive criticism should be.
Thus I would like to commend everyone. 343i for even though we give them alot of crap; producing and putting hard work in what appears to be a pretty good new map pack (especially from a new company), and fixing bugs in the gameplay since the first halo bulletin (even though there is and always will be more work to do).
But most importantly I would like to commend the forum community for making my night with intelligent discourse, well thought out points, acceptance of each others ideas, dissent with good reason, and not just following the hate-fest blindly.
Those of you who comment intelligently, regardless of whatever side of the argument you may be on, I commend you for what I saw last night (hopefully noone ruined the streak since I last checked the forums- as I didn’t check now)
All I can say is whether you are a forum member or a 343 member you can give yourself a nice pat on the back from me. (If you know you were one of the intelligent posters, and if you know you have been working hard to fix bugs at 343) Keep up the good work guys! Yall made me proud last night to call myself a halo fanatic!
> Custom games are still garbage and Race is not back so I am pretty much done with this piece of junk.
This is EXACTLY what he was not refering too, is it so hard just to post a well thought-out post giving constructive feedback (If you have a gripe about the game)?
If you can’t manage that, then why are you even on the forum of the game you don’t seem to like?
> Custom games are still garbage and Race is not back so I am pretty much done with this piece of junk.
I… I don’t even…
OT: Agreed OP. I’ve seen a lot more well thought out and intelligent debates recently. It’s good to see, especially after some of the things I saw posted in the last 6 months.

agreed. nothing wrong with having an issue with the game, i think we all do. but just flaming it does zero good. We all know making a game is incredibly difficult and seeing what was produced has to, on some level, be praised. Even with flaws its a well made game IMO. I am still baffled at people saying too much has changed then bash other games for not making enough changes. you either have changes or no changes, cant complain about both.

This is a prime example of what I am talking about. He admits that it isn’t a bad game, he admits that a few glitches aren’t as “game breaking” as everyone previously was claiming they were. But he still has his issues with the game and states his intelligent approach to discussing these issues. Congratulations sir, you contribute to this forum being a better place.
I personally love the game. Bug fixes are always good but I don’t really have any “game breakers” that affect me. Cheers.
And of course there is nothing wrong with having an issue with the game. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, and the right to have it respected so long as they can present it without flaming.
there is nothing “game breaking” for me either. I like change. it adds new depth to the Halo gameplay. But sometimes you cant win with some people. they will complain too much has changed then if not enough has changed they say its re-cycled gameplay so 343i cant win. A big gripe with the community is the 1-50. I understand it gives us a goal to achieve and keep. Like seeing 1st place on a trophy or being in first place in fantasy sports BUT we all must understand, the gamers who want the 1-50 are not the core of the 4million+ gamers.
To grasp this, lets look at all the merchandise, toys, lunch boxes, ect. that we all see at Target/Wal-mart. this demographic of consumers are the core that is being targeted. mature competitive gamers dont need a lunchbox or master Chief thermus or swimming trunks and pj’s. so 343i’s target are kids, young teenager and casual gamers with the hopes to make some gametypes to not alienate the hardcore gamers. its a difficult fence to balance on. once we all recognize that we will better understand how 343i is directing the halo franchise.
In closing, i am competitive and love to win and do good. when I first start Halo, a decade ago I loved everything about it. I loved the 1-50. then i started seeing how people acted and exploited getting to 1-50. its their right within the gameplay to do such exploits but a few knuckleheads ruined the 1-50 experience for me. boosting and creating multiple account to get their 50. just seemed like too much was riding on the 50 opposed to working as a team to get the win. so, although i like 1-50, I can live without it if it means people are more concerned about 50 opposed to winning and working together. a separate playlist for 1-50 would be ideal so everyone who wants it can go there and get their fix.

I agree for the most part. Although I would enjoy having to get a 50 again, I do not think it absolutely vital to the lifespan of the series. (In other words I think it should exist but be separated from the standard experience, ie. social and ranked playlists and not affect the progression system) So the game would have a dual ranking system, an exp progression system for standard in game rank (for which SR works nicely), and a skill system for anyone interested in that.
Off topic; I’m glad to see that many forumers consent with me about the value of increased validity and thoughtful explaination in recent posts and it is my sincere hope that you all keep it up. Thanks and see you all online!
yes, i think an exp and 50 system should co-exist to make everyone happy. I don’t think 1-50 should be game breaking. because if you remove the 1-50, the gameplay still has to stand on its own. having a 1-50 with a horrible MP experience is a waste. if people ignore the gameplay because of no 1-50 then I think the reason in which they are playing is skewed. I would like to see a playlist with 1-50 but if the playlist is bad then 1-50 makes no difference.
I am just very dissapointed in this multiplayer. It doesn’t feel right to me with regard to many features (JiP, Insta spawn, ordnance, certain weapons from spawn available, maps)
But I can see the potential of the game and I can even understand why there is a group of people who love it. I know my opinion is not better than all other opinions.
The truth with these forums is that any constructive and well though out post is just buried under a mountain of whiners and complainers. Seriously.
True, Complainers will get their point across eventually. But if I were in 343’s shoes I would listen to the intelligent people and take constructive criticism to heart and ignore the ridiculous spammers constantly whining about a game they ‘hate’ and yet stay on these forums…
This is a crazy world we live in folks. Better get used to it.
