(Y) on controller not switching weapons - XBOX

On console only, I am unable to switch weapons using “Y” on the conroller, which states in the settings to be mapped to “switch weapons / …”

The issue occurs with multiple controllers, which have been confirmed to have a working “Y” button.
The issue occurs on multiple XBOX consoles (XBONE Slim and a Series X).

The issue DOES NOT occur on PC, running windows 10, with the controllers.

I’ve had this issue too, but I found a fix. Pause the game and check your controller settings. I remember the reason for the Y button not switching weapons was because there was something set to “custom” (probably the button layout). If you change it to “default”, pressing Y should switch weapons again.
