I’ve encountered twice where I’ll be under fire, take brief cover and deploy the overshield, and it does zero for my shields. Other times it adds the overshield perfectly as designed.
Also for the last two hours or so my XP has not moved - restarted game once or twice and used XP boosts but it has basically paused completely saying I’m 500 XP to the next reward on level 8.
Every once in awhile a bot will throw a grenade at me and its literally like a 1 second long flashbang on screen, total whiteout, not sure if that’s a bug.

Ive had the same problem with the XP. I got off for a few hours then started playing again and it worked. Im not sure but it is probably on 343’s end.
I’ve noticed the XP for the battle pass challenges stopped moving after I’m finished the weekly challenges and completing the daily challenges. And I guess the only challenge I have left is a daily pvp match completions, but I guess since it’s against bots I’m not making any progress towards it.
When I see that most of the streamers I’ve been watching so far are around level 9 at least, and I’m stuck at 6. Though that’s probably because I only spent 8.8 hours compared to others. Sorry to complain.

Honestly I thought you were able to get XP to level up simply by completing matches, am I wrong? I didn’t even think about swapping out challenges for completable ones

Well there are daily challenges that get you xp for completing matches. But once you complete the first one, the next one will require you to do that challenge again but requires you to complete more matches to complete the challenge. Example the first challenge asks you do complete two matches to get 100 xp, then the next challenge requires you to complete three more challenges to get 100 xp. But then when it ask for 5 or 6 matches, that challenge rewards 150 xp instead of 100. At least that’s what I’ve noticed from it.
Im not sure if this will be in the final game or if 343 will make changes to it, this is just a technical preview after all.
