343, this is an outrage. I spend countless hours playing your game, working hard to get the monthly challenge of 17343 XP, finally get it but then you cap my XP right then. How can you let this happen? I demand that you give me those XP. It’s not fair that me, the kid that plays fair and only in his free time to have this hard work turn out to be for nothing. Please, see this post and help me out. I am a loyal Halo fan from the very first days of Halo:CE.

Feel your pain. I’ve lost some good challenges. Luckily, the one you’re talking about. I managed to stop playing 2 games away from hitting it(if you’re talking about the winning 117 matchmaking games)I’m also 1029 points from leveling up as well, and one win from getting 5000 points on a commendation. I almost wasted a couple good ones.
I understand the use of the cap, but it really shouldn’t be so low, at least not once you hit higher levels.
Hopefully you can get those points back, but Unfortunately I doubt it.
Or have it so that you still earn exp from challenges and commendations, just not the normal exp per game.
Challenge and Commendation xp should never count for the cap. Then again, the cap itself is just dumb. I hope I don’t get screwed out of the Monthly XP when I get there.

I did the exact same thing you did, I wasnt going to let this game rip me off. 343 has so much to fix…
Whats the XP cap? lol I hear people complaining about it at rank 30 and im 41 and haven’t experienced this…yet.

I figure as much as I play I would earn that in 6 games later on anyway…
This is actually the second time that I have been hurt hard with the XP limit. The very first time that I got it ( and was totally unaware that there was even such a thing ) I had earned 10,000 in Commendations, then 343 took that way too. To be honest, after this latest XP Limit problem, I am losing the “want” to play now. I love Halo so much that it’s hard not to play, but at this point it isn’t fun for me anymore, constantly worrying if I will lose points again. I do hope 343 sees this and helps me, and the rest of us out. We’ve all played our hearts out and deserve to get our lost points back.
XP cap is daily, not based on rank. I seen older posts stating it was 75,000, but have seen newer posts saying the raised it to near 100,000. It’s not that hard to hit the cap if its 100,000. Just doing Spartan Ops I’m earning 11900 exp per game, which takes 6-8 minutes. So hitting 100,000 takes about 2 hours (i’m using dewxp, so if your getting normal xp rates, its 4 hours of play time). If you do any challenges during that time, it can decrease your play time by about 5-10minutes per challenge completed, so you could max out at 1.5 hours played. Now if you’re purely doing war games, You max out at 3000 a game, 6000 with double exp, so you double the play time from 1.5 hours minimum to 3 hours, with an average of being around 7 hours with normal exp and some challenges completed. It varies so much from player to player and what they are doing that the xp cap makes no sense, as it actually doesn’t benefit anyone at all. The meta game doesn’t even start until everyone has specializations unlocked, which you need to reach rank 50 for. Half the people will stop playing before they even reach the full potential of multiplayer, which honestly won’t be fully available until about a week after all specializations are released on the 20th.
I can too, which is not too bad, but it’s the fact that those thousands of XP points would at least help me with half a level.
If you’re earning that many credits daily honestly it doesn’t hurt you that much. Stop whining. I’ve hit the credit limit quite a few days, lost some credits sure. But I’m not going to complain about it, it’s obviously there for a reason, and I trust 343 (a lot of ex Bungie) has done enough research to know that it’s the right decision.

It’s posts like these that make me wish all these “perks” were unlocked through something else. Like beat legendary solo, and get 3 armor mods. Exp never works because there is always someone -Yoink!-!ng.
It’s just nice to be rewarded for your hard work is all.
I’ve never played enough to hit the cap, but I can see how it would really be frustrating especially in this scenario.
Think about it, you’ve got some free time so you decide you’re gonna play for a few hours so you can reach 117 wins, not just games played, actual WINS. You spend a good part of your day playing and you finally reach win #117 only to find out that you only got a portion of the XP from the challenge. That would make me want to hurt a small animal.

Am I the only person who doesn’t care about this and plays after capping out because the game is fun and more than just leveling up? You should have kept track… If you played a good chunk of the day you should have quit a couple games before the challenge was complete if it really meant that much to you.

My thoughts exactly Salsa. Just don’t make the same mistakes the rest of us have. You’re right too, those weren’t just games played, they were “Wins”. Took a lot of effort.

This. Partly because it’s exactly what I was thinking (additionally, challenge/commendation xp shouldn’t count towards the cap before it’s reached) and partly because Kopaka FTW.
Let me get this straight.
Let’s say you’re in a situation where you hit the XP cap and THEN you get the challenge. None of it counts at all?
What if you’re 1 XP away from the cap and you get the challenge. Does that mean you only get 1 XP rewarded and then you’re capped without getting the rest?
I also figured that commendations would be an exception to the cap, since I’ve seen the “+500” message in-game. They don’t count as well?
Just curious about some things.
