So, everyone knows that Multiplayer Ranked and Social playlists pay out significantly less XP than Warzone does. Not even that, but some playlists don’t pay out nearly as much as others that aren’t Featured, either. I feel the balance of XP in both areas should see a change that could hopefully lead players into certain playlists more frequently.
For Social, the payouts need increased significantly. Playing a 10 minute Warzone can net right at 5-digit XP payouts while Social BTB games can easily hit 15 minute marks that only hit 2-3k tops. 4v4 matches that are about 5-7 minutes shorter pay out similarly. These just need increased to something viable like 5-6k without boosts per match.
Ranked has this problem as well, but with the added complexity of a lower player base. Something I always wondered, was changing end-of-season rewards. Everyone is grinding for 152 now. Maybe a system of some massive XP reward for your standing at the end of a season. Champions could get something like a 1 million XP Jackpot. Onyx gets 750,000. Onyx 500,000. Diamonds 250,000. It just gives them incentive to play ranked which could also help boost population numbers for ranked to help with matches being more consistent and searches not taking as long.
As of today it almost balances out because warzone keeps crashing mid game so I’m losing boosts and time.
In all seriousness though, yes. I prefer PvE but I’d love it if social paid out a bit more. There’s some real fun stuff but trying to get that 152 after not playing for a long time kinda funnels people over to warzone if they’re real set on that goal.

Warzone boosts are only consumed upon completion of a game. If a game crashes, most boost types will be returned to your inventory, though you may need to play another game or close/reopen the app to see it immediately.

Its a goal for a lot of people, myself included. I have no real reason to grind, but every online Halo title I’ve hit max rank for XP and highest ranks for Ranked play…until Halo 5. I spent 65 days of gameplay on Halo 5 matchmaking and haven’t even hit 150…which is 24 million XP out of 50 million needed. Not even a halfway point. But then there’s people that have played roughly the same amount as I have, but most of their games in Warzone…and they’re 152. I personally just feel that’s not fair, and it honestly just feels like a bad business practice because 343 filtered consumers into the only mode where paid microtransactions mattered.
I’d like to see Arena pay out more XP. I forget who it was, but I played against a guy one time who almost exclusively played Arena and had over 100 days of Arena played. He was not 152. If you can have 3+ months of in-game time and not be 152 something isn’t quite right. Safe to say the guy is dedicated with that much playtime.
