Is 343 really not doing base XP for playing matches? only from completing challenges? That’s a terrible idea. That ruins the ability to play the game strictly for the win in a competitive setting and gain progress towards the battle pass. The only thing I care bout is winning and improving my game, say what you will about that, but that’s how I have fun when gaming. If the challenges are anything like past games where its “get 10 melee kills, or 15 rocket launcher kills” or anything you you kinda sorta have to try for completely goes against how many people play the game. Challenges are fun, and when I’m bored I go for them in social playlists, but making them the only way to gain progress cant be the move? I’m not the only one who has a problem with this, right? Unless the challenges are going to be completely generic that you don’t even have to look at them and you’ll achieve them simply by playing I don’t see how people wont be upset with this.
I am fine with challenges for progressing the battle pass, but for the leveling system (which there certainly needs to be one) should be progressed with basic XP just to give players an indicator of who has spent the most time in game.
I already blew my steam for this unwelcome revelation several hours ago, so I’m just going to sit tight until launch. By then, I hope the whole progression system will have me going “Damn. That was a close one.”
