Xbox X + new TV: will I get out of Bronze 1 rank?

But seriously, does hardware and display/TV have any significant impact on how well you can play Halo? Do most people who are good play on displays rather than TVs? What about Xbox variants?

Anyone with practical experience, please share!

Aside from how your internet modem / router is set up, I think it seems silly that newer hardware will affect your performance in some fashion or another. If anything, try to look at your screen straight on, and not from the sides. Don’t have it too close or too far, either.

Generally players will preform best on a smaller monitor rather than a TV. The reason behind this is that your eyes can watch a larger area without straining too much. That being said going too small isn’t a good idea either. As for the xbox variants I don’t think that will make any significant difference.

Nah it’s all about skill trust me

How much new hardware helps you depends on what you already have. If you have ended up in a situation where you have a TV with absolutely horrible input lag (e.g. over 60 milliseconds), then it’s possible that the delay will significantly affect your performance, and you could benefit from a new display. However, if your display already has moderate input lag (e.g. 20 ms), then there’s not much to be gained from a reduction of 10 milliseconds (which would be the best case scenario).

Latency is your worst enemy while gaming when it comes to fast paced games. However, the reality is that every millisecond does not count, unless you are really serious about competitive gaming and you’re already at the top of your game. In fact, I’m not even sure if every millisecond counts at the tournament level. I’d wager that those people benefit more from the confidence boost that the knowledge of having the fastest display on the market gives them than from the actual reduction in latency.

Beyond latency, there’s of course the display size, which is entirely down to personal preference, but I do believe that being comfortable with your display matters. Some people prefer larger screens and others prefer smaller screens. Some will tell you that small screens are the way to go, but really, you benefit far more from simply choosing a size that fits you.

Ultimately, hardware only gets you so far. Buyng better hardware definitely won’t hurt, but it’s not going to turn an average player into a pro, or even a high level player into a pro. As I see it, buying better hardware is about removing obstacles that prevent you from learning new things, but even after you’ve removed the obstacles, you still actually need to learn those things.

I doubt that a new monitor designed to handle graphical visuals at a high/max settings will assist in bettering one’s skill. However, I have heard reports that some monitors have an impact on input time from your controller, and while I have no idea how or why that works, it’s something to consider anyways.

Yes, and on top of that you’ll automatically gain a spot on Optic Gaming replacing Lehtul.

On a more serious note, a monitor would do more for you than a tv but somebody has already gone in detail on that. Also the new Xbox wouldn’t do a thing.
