Xbox upgrade S to X for mcc

Hello friends, in terms of performance and graphics is it worth upgrading the console? I have lg c1 support 4k

TNX😃

Personally did not notice any significant change between the two consoles.

The S and the X differences sound pretty minor, other than the QoL of having a larger internal hard drive. I think the differencesun display is the SX has native 4k, whereas the S has upscaled 4k. (Upscaled 4k is like bargain 4k, where a 1080p resolution image is artificially upscaled to 4k).

At this point you might be better to wait for a mid gen refresh if you’re thinking about updating your console. If they don’t announce a new console tier at E3 then you probably don’t have to worry about that though

The official list of updates can be found here: https://support.halowaypoint.com/hc/en-us/articles/360052059432-Halo-MCC-Xbox-Series-X-S-Enhancements-Features-and-Troubleshooting

The only real difference seems to be that the Xbox Series S is native 1080p and the Xbox Series X is native 2160p. It’s up to you if you’re okay with the upscaled image or not.

Given the economy and a looming global recession, the cost of hardware and the fact it’s not declining, as well as the fact that we’re still in a cross-gen period, Digital Foundry strongly suspects there will not be a mid-gen refresh this generation. We’ll see if their guess is right.

I have both and can’t really tell a difference on most titles with my setup, including MCC. If you can get an X - it may be worth it for the storage space and standard 4K performance. If you’re only looking to play MCC, you’ll be happy with the S!

There was news a month or so ago that a codenamed project was canned. It was called Xbox Keystone, and it’s likely that project was the mid gen refresh. So i suspect you’re right.

That’s why I figure if we don’t hear anything about a mid gen console this E3, we’re probably not getting it lol. My guess is they’re leaning into a game pass streaming device that will just plug in to or be downloaded directly onto TV’s instead of new premium hardware

From the rumours I saw, it was actually a new console, a small one that was specifically a streaming device for Game Pass Ultimate (similar to what you describe in your second paragraph).

Who knows though, or if it even exists/existed.

Digital Foundry’s thinking on the matter is that at this point in the console life-cycle, the “slim” models are usually coming about. Not only has there been nothing on that, but Microsoft has told them things won’t be changing for a while as the cost for new silicone is not reducing like it did in past generations.

For a mid-gen refresh, last gen that occurred because of the rise of 4K TV’s becoming more common/dominant in the family room; 4K was the selling point for those machines. There’s nothing like that this time, simply more powerful hardware. And since we’re still in a cross-gen period due to unique global circumstances, most games and developers have yet to properly take advantage of current gen hardware.

Given all of that, a mid-gen refresh would simply be better hardware doing the same thing current gen does now, but at a much higher price point. Doesn’t seem like the best business decision for either Xbox or PlayStation right now.

Of course, time will tell.

No because the series X still has graphical issiues compared to pc , easpacially concerning render distance in Halo 3 where objects for example disapear after a few meters already so you cant see for example a dropped fuel rod if it a bit away , i already reported the bug to the support they are aware of it . while i do think that halo 3 these days does not net limited render distance at all because of powerfull hardware i think series x has even less then the og 360 for some reason.

i have uploaded the issiues to youtube if you are interested

and here pc comparasion : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iqIAFieE3_E

i excuse the quality , i used these clips to upload to support so they had to be quite compressed but look at covenant their objects marines etc.

also concerning the talk about waiting for next generation, didnt Microsoft say that they are basicly done with the concept of console generations ? that they just intend to improve hardware etc ?
