Xbox Series X MEGA thread.

So, I know I’ll be purchasing this DAY one with Halo along side, maybe even a collectors edition.

However, does anyone know if you can plug in a mouse and keyboard and play that way? Would be super cool if Halo: Infinite let you play with kb/m natively.

Let’s start the mega thread.

  1. What are you most excited about?
  2. when do you plan on buying the console?

I’m excited for halo infinite and hell blade senua’s saga mm and oh yeah the specs of the console are just nuts

It’s pretty beefy for a console for sure.

I’m curious on how it compares directly to a mid tier PC though. like I’m sure it’s more powerful than an AMD RX 580 8GB. As far as CPU Power, I would assume a Ryzen 2700x maybe?

  1. I’ll list three things I’m most excited for:

At the top is frame rate improvements over XB1. There’s several games that I’ve played that run poorly on XB1 and after tasting 60fps in some games like Halo I’m tired of 30fps even if it’s locked. Bring on the era of 60fps console gaming. Also hoping that some current gen games that are already 60fps could go even higher on XBSX. Would love to play Apex Legends at 120fps. I play with a higher FOV on XB1 so performance takes a hit in some situations and coupled with my shotty internet it really doesn’t feel like I’m even playing at 60fps. By the time I have an XBSX I’ll have moved to an area that has much better internet so I can’t wait.

Second on the list is load times. Thank god we have moved on to SSD’s. There’s a bunch of games that have horrible amounts of loading and I kinda wish I would’ve just held off on playing them until next gen. The most recent game I’ve played that has some of the worst amount of loading screens and how long those loadings screens are is Pillars of Eternity. It got to a point where I’d have a youtube video or twitch stream ready on my phone next to me so I had something to do while sitting in loading screens. I can’t wait for those 30-45 second loading times reduced to like 5-10 seconds. I’m actually holding off on playing PoE 2 to play it on next gen because I don’t want to go through that again lol

Last on the list is quick resume. This one was a pleasant surprise and I REALLY hope it works as advertised. I play multiple games at once. For example right now I’m playing Castlevania LoS2, Yooka-Laylee, and Apex. If I could simply pause and jump to the next game without having to shut the game down and boot up the other, oh that would be so convenient. The video they showcased it showed it working with like 4 or 5 games? I think it’ll depend on how demanding each game is on the system so if I could do it with even 3 I’d be set.

  1. I’m buying as soon as it’s available. Hope there isn’t a shortage of supply at launch because of covid or even worse a straight up delay.

I’m so pumped for this launch.

I am fearful with the financial hardships hitting me due to Covid this will be the first Xbox Launch I miss.

Either way I’ll be ready to play the heck out of the new Halo. So huge that all Series X titles will be cross platform.

Very excited to meet Raymond Tracing as he is likely going to be the MVP for graphics next generation.

Sadly, Xbox One is my final console. I’m trying to get a gaming PC since Xbox Live still connects to it.

I’m most excited for shorter loading times, and hopefully a short start up. Not sure if it’s cause I have the OG Xbox one but my console takes like 2-3 minutes to boot up, and some games like GTA 5 and outer worlds (especially outer worlds) have ridiculously long load times. So long for ow it started to turn me off, I barely finished It…

I plan to get it at Xmas time. The thing I’m undecided on is to apply my MS points to the new console or an elite series 2. I plan on having close to 200k points by Xmas. I’m so excited tho I don’t buy lots of toys so this will be my first new console since 2013.

Yeah, I’ve been on PC since 2014…and bought a X360 in 2011. I was late to that console generation. I didn’t mind 30 fps but once I switched to PC and experienced 60fps it was amazing. however, I play at 120FPS now and it’s leagues smoother than 60…although majority of console gamers won’t say gross at 60fps. I hope many welcome it and realize how it betters your play experience.

If 60 isn’t the standard I’m switching to PC. 120 could be a thing if devs chill with the graphics/resolution obsession. Would be nice if they gave us the option of better frame rate or better visuals. Halo Infinite at 120fps would be sick.

Yeah. Halo Infinite at 120 would be so buttery smooth of an experience on XSX. However, I think H6 will be coming to PC and Xbox…but I’ll most likely give up PC gaming for a little while once the console launches with Halo Infinite.

  1. I’m most excited for Halo Infinite
  2. When I can actually start making money.

#1. Halo Infinite, but I will be getting Gamepass to try it before deciding whether to buy it or not.
#2. If I determine Halo Infinite is worth buying, I’ll buy the console with it, so probably a few weeks in. A bundle would be sweet. If not, probably 3 or so years down the road like I’ve done with every xbox since the OG Xbox.

I would imagine they will have a bundle, a limited edition or something along those lines. Perhaps even a “Buy Xbox Series X and get Halo Infinite” type deal, maybe not immediately, but eventually.
