Xbox Series X Delay

What I don’t understand is now that we all know Halo Infinite is delayed until next year why Microsoft would not delay the launch of the Series X as well. I mean there has been this whole back and forth between Microsoft and Sony throughout the entire the summer. In order to build back momentum and and brand recognition it would behoove Microsoft to be linked to Infinite and the Series X at a later time. Personally, both Xbox and Halo are inseparable.

If it’s safe to assume that the Series X was going to lose sales because of the Halo Infinite delay why not push back the console so the releases of the Series X console and Halo Infinite would be higher anyway?

Going back to Sony for a second if Microsoft wants to save face so to speak then getting out of the direct competition with Sony would be the thing to do. If you are Microsoft creating your own time to showcase your games (WITH actual gameplay footage) during presentations that not only are on point with what you are selling but last longer than hour at least would be the way to go.

In a way, Halo Infinite is a blessing in disguise to both 343 industries. Obviously, 343 gets to now truly make a fully developed Halo game they can call their own with no added pressure. On the other hand, with Infinite being pushed back Xbox and Microsoft theoretically can now go back to the drawing board and push another AAA title game to the forefront. This is something I don’t hear enough about.

In order to succeed you would think there would be a more expansive AAA game lineup from Microsoft to counter what Sony offered in the previous generation. This is my most objective observation I could make Xbox series X’s AAA game lineup.

What are your thoughts on the matter?

Who cares, let the people who want the latest tech get it this holiday to play Cyberpunk/CoD or whatever. When Halo Infinite rolls around you’ll get a spike in Series X sales anyways (assuming the game is good).

Microsoft said they wouldn’t delay their console for any single game, and while they don’t reference Infinite specifically, I think that’s what they’re implying. The system would be almost ready to go at this point, and holding it back would just give Sony another edge. A game missing the holiday season is no big deal (especially if it’s free with Gamepass), but a whole console missing the holiday sales would be a disaster.

Honestly, I don’t think the Series X needs Infinite in order to sell. Full backwards-compatibility with Xbox One and certain 360 games is already a major selling point for many, and a few of the other launch titles look rather promising. Not to mention the much-anticipated Cyberpunk releases this Fall.

We also don’t know exactly how long Infinite is being delayed for. It could be delayed until spring or Summer, or it could be November 2021 when it’s released.

For the optimal financial success of Xbox series X doing well is why I threw out the idea of console being delayed as well. Personally, I could care less whether Xbox series X gets delayed or not alongside Halo Infinite. At the end of the day I want to see the best-case-scenario for both the Xbox console and Halo Infinite pairing. If that means Microsoft releasing the Series X releases later in order to maximize sales that would work for me. Then again, Xbox should not be dependent on Halo overall as a brand to get them out of a jam.

If critics of Microsoft were already saying yesterday that the Xbox series X was going to fail and flop in terms of sales because Halo Infinite was not a launch title why would the there not be a backup plan to push another AAA title game to the forefront to avoid disaster financially? I think this is a valid argument that can and should be made.

Again, personally at the end of the day all I want is for Halo Infinite and the Xbox series X to succeed as a whole. How Microsoft goes about doing so is so unclear that I do not care how it happens as long as it happens.

There’s no reason to delay the whole system for one game. There is no way skipping Covid Christmas would be worth it to have Halo launch alongside it.

Because Cyberpunk 2077 in November… And undoubtedly it will play better on the Xbox Series X.

Because then they’d get to the market late??? Lmao. Someone doesn’t understand how the industry and sales works OP. You give your competition a year in the market space without a competitor and the consumers are going to buy their product because it’s the only choice.

You might wanna sit down for this next one cause it might blow your mind.

Not everyone is buying a Series X for Halo. They’ll buy it for other games. Believe it or not, Xbox doesn’t revolve around Halo. Plus the hardware isn’t going to change in a year. So what would be the point?

I swear some people live with their heads in the clouds.

Why should players like me get penalised because Halo Infinite has been delayed ? I’ve worked hard and I have my cash for both next gen consoles and a bunch of games. I was never buying Halo Infinite day one but there are other games I want to play on Series X. Also, Halo is not the console selling powerhouse it used to be.

With a bit of luck it will at least launch with a multiplayer beta for Infinite.

This exactly so many games to check out if they play better. Time to check out the system im patient and my backlogged games list is insane. Getting older buying games and never getting around to play them all. I hope Scorn comes Quickly :robot::gun::joystick: upgrading to one X 3 years ago was worth it

I do not see this happening. We know that PS5 will be in the lead, this will give it even more of a head-start.

I requested already 5 weeks off to play halo. Now it’s delayed and I’ve not a single reason to buy the XSX

This year sucks…

Can someone confirm something for me? If i buy a series x, will i still be able to jump into XBL parties with my friends and play with my friends if they dont buy the console? I presume Skype will be an app ready at launch, i use that to communicate a lot. PS i know the console is backwards compat.

Yes you will be able to do so.

I don’t see any reason to delay the launch of the console. Remember that Halo 3 came out in September 2007, almost two years after the Xbox 360 launched in November 2005. What matters is that Halo Infinite is polished and packed with features when it launches, and delaying the game is not going to hurt the Series X in the long run.

I know this isn’t an Xbox centric forum but even with halo delayed, MS will not delay series x or even ?series S. Sony also has a lackluster exclusive Launch lineup since they didn’t mention release dates during their event. This is all likely due to the fact that their games will be delayed as well (although they might not say it).

If MS releases at the same time as Sony and with series S, a cheaper console would drive sales then more sales once halo infinite launches in 2020 (fingers crossed it’s spring not fall; although however much time it takes I’m ok with it)

Honestly couldn’t care less for the series X. I definitely would have gotten it at some point but now since halo was delayed I have no reason to buy day 1

Yeah, but you’re forgetting all awesome exclusive titles the 360 had at launch like …

.
Perfect Dark Zero?

I think Microsoft does not really care how much they do sell at lauch. In the long run they use the XSX and XSS to get more game pass users.

No thank you. There are other things about next gen I’m excited about and want besides Infinite. I’m done with this gen, I want my xbox ASAP.
