When Xbox series S is marketed as being able to do 1440p and 60 fps (mainly focusing on campaign now) - why are we stuck with 1080p and 30 fps in quality mode? I am really happy with the game itself, but after 6 years I want to enjoy the visuals as well. It’s just that I don’t need the very high end - hence buying the series S. Nevertheless, I do expect an upgrade from my older Xbox One system when bying next-gen. I can of course feel some improvements, but god I really wish for that higher resolution. Would have made the world even more immersive…
Are there any plans for improving/fixing the resolution on series S? Future update? Does anyone else feel the same way? I know it’s holidays now, not pressing anything - just wanted to start this open discussion❤

You might have to manually switch it on your TV. I had to with the Series X, it didn’t just do it when I turned it on. I dunno what kind of TV you have but there should be a HDMI mode of some sort in the settings.

I have an ASUS TUF Gaming monitor (VG27A) which is capable of doing 1440p and 60Hz. Been trying to find some settings both in the monitor (not much tweaking here…), Infinite (trying both quality and performance mode) and Xbox (setting the resolution to 1440p and refresh rate to 60). Doing all the tweaking I can - it still doesn’t get up to 1440p at 60 Hz… At least I would have managed 1440p and just 30 fps, if that’s all we could get tbh
You’re using a high speed HDMI cable, right??
I really don’t know anything about monitors vs TVs.

I use the HDMI cable that was included in the box, so I suppose that should be high speed
I think the problem may be on 343’s side, not optimizing the game for series S enough? I might be wrong, but it seems wierd that a console from Microsoft itself that are capable of 1440p and 60fps can’t run that on the flagship title of Xbox. That’s why I’m HOPING that this may be fixed by them soon? I’m also a bit surprised that this hasn’t been talked about that much in the community yet?
Yes, the one that came with the console should be high speed. It’ll say so right on it. Digital Foundry has done a video on the Series S running Halo Infinite and it was fine, it was playing exactly as it should’ve. There’s gotta be a setting somewhere that you’re missing.
If you are referring to this video: https://youtu.be/wMEb7PuH9aw?t=641
…I’m actually coming straight from it, as I was researching this topic myself. He clearly states that there’s a cap at 1080p with 30 fps in the video (the link starts at the right place).

I agree, there must be some kind of weird system-level issue occurring in the background. The Series S displays the game at 1080p on both quality and performance, and it holds 60fps just fine! Surely the resolution could be bumped up a bit higher on the quality mode and maintain 30fps. Nearly 4 months later and this still seems to be the case, I hope 343 is looking into it.
Just put it on performance mode. Even on the Series X the game runs on 30 fps when you put it on quality mode. And it looks pretty good i.m.o. whem using performance mode.
I agree that it works best and well enough on performance mode, just hoping it can get even better.
The Series X runs at 60fps on quality mode; performance mode bumps it to 120fps.
It’s worse for me. I can’t even change my graphics mode.
