Xbox Scorpio and halo in 2017

As some of you may have heard, a new Xbox codenamed “Scorpio” is rumored to launch in 2017 and is more than 4x more powerful than the current Xbox One.

What does this mean for Halo in 2017?

I’m thinking to help push this thing out the gate, there could be a Halo launch title. Whether it’s Halo 6 or something else would definitely draw some major attention to it’s launch.

Since Halo 5 had obvious compromises to reach that stable 60fps, this could be the opportunity to really build on Halo 5’s formula and push for the true campaign innovation 343 tried to sell with Halo 5.

With a new Xbox potentially coming so soon, it will be a divisive topic but interesting nonetheless. Hopefully we hear more at E3 about all of this.

halo normally comes out every 3 years, the next “halo” game will for sure be halo wars 2. with halo 6 following the year after.

as for this xbox scorpio, it will probably just be an xbox one slim. xbox has only been out for 3-4 years. EVERYONE will feel cheated because barely anything has come out for the system (same goes for sony and ps “neo”) this consoles simply have not been around long enough to spend another 500 dollars on a brand new “stonger” console cause this current ones have only just begin to get rolling.

Well apparently this year will see the release of an Xbox TV streaming stick (think Google’s Chromecast) and an Xbox One Mini/Slim. I mean the original Xbox was also only out for 4 years before the 360.

Also, another reason for the Scorpio is for Microsoft’s partnership with Oculus and it’ll need more raw power to push VR. It’s also rumored to be forward and backward compatible with Xbox One and 360 games.

And if it is real, it’s more powerful than the PS4 Neo if both rumored spec sheets are to be believed.

I think they said Scorpio is going to be using the Oculus, as well. Halo 7: VR!!

It might just be a 4K xb1…

The rumor suggests that the Scorpio will be a 6TB system (in comparison, the XBO is a 1.38TB) so it’s still a huge increase in power. Not quite a next gen leap, but a very promising in-between leap.

Halo Wars 2 is confirmed for this year. Halo 6 is likely not coming out next year, more like a 2018 title…
Next year is 2017 which marks the 10th anniversary of the best selling title in the franchise. Halo 3.

And with that kind of power increase we could (hopefully) see in a Halo 3A:
-Doom PC level graphics
-ALL maps remade (ala Gears Ultimate)
-1080p/60fps with AA x8 or 16 or perhaps even 2k/60fps for the 4k TV owners (which downscaled to a 1080p TV should still look amazing)

As for the MCC version of Halo 3, I refuse to accept that as a legitimate answer to play Halo 3 since the MP is still barren and the campaign has tons of frame drops. MCC is essentially garbage, I want to see a legitimate Anniversary edition of Halo 3.

Does that mean splitscreen will be finally coming to Halo 5?

Probably 4K and maybe a TV tuner would be nice. 4K halo 6!!! That would be awesome. Probably make the game too big.

By the time it releases, Halo 5 will probably already be too irrelevant to bother updating split-screen in.

I’m pretty sure it’s just another Xbox One model with upgraded GPU, and possibly CPU. Meaning, Xbox One games and stuff will still work with it. It’s just a way to extend the life of the console, because let’s be honest: Xbox One and PS4 are falling behind. I have more power in my laptop than those consoles have.

Also, you’re timeline’s off. Halo Wars 2 is coming out this year, and Halo 6 definitely won’t be coming out next year. That would only give it about a two year development time, or even a little less since I doubt it was in development as soon as Halo 5 came out. There’s most likely a different game coming out next year, and I suspect it’ll be Halo 3 anniversary. Since it’s Halo 3’s 10 year anniversary.

With a quad core processor that would hopefully give enough power to play split screen at 60fps.

Um. I seriously doubt they’ll bump up the CPU significantly. The GPU alone (if it is indeed 4x better) will already cost quite a penny unless the next box turns out as a $500-600 machine.
