Xbox Scarlett Launch With Halo Infinite

With journalists reporting about the PS5 all day since yesterday, the topic of Xbox Scarlett is bigger than ever. With rumours that Sony is hitting Rockstar with money for the next GTA to be a PS5 exclusive for 1 month and that the PS4 dominated this console generation by appealing to mainstream gamers from the get go, the strategy Microsoft takes to secure a lead from the beggining is more important than ever (the Xbox One’s catastrophic announcement proved that).

With rumours going around that Microsoft is also going to be announcing/ unveiling the Xbox Scarlett (officially) at E3 in June, I have to say Microsoft has to throw fire at the world with their presentation… If there is one way I think Microsoft can steal the show it is…

The announcement at E3 that Halo Infinite will be a Next-Gen Xbox launch title… What do you think about/ the chances of Halo Infinite being a next-gen launch title? And what do you think Microsoft has to release with their console to make you lift your ears up to what they have to say?

Xbox needs to focus on good games that are exclusive to Xbox one/pc. What hurt them during the Xbox ones lifetime is that they focused too heavily of stuff no one cares about like play anywhere etc, while these things are good, It shouldn’t be the main selling point of your console. Hopefully MS learns this and it looks like they have with halo infinite rumored to be a launch title for the new Xbox which is a great way to kick off the next generation.

I’ve always thought Halo Infinite will be a launch title for the next Xbox, or one of the launch titles. I’ll be buying the next Xbox and PS5 on the day they launch. However, if Halo Infinite is a launch title I’ll be looking for other deals to avoid it. After the egregious cash grab that was Halo 5 I’m not buying Halo Infinite on launch, and I always stand by my principle. Halo Infinite being a next gen release title does not magically erase all the issues I have with the franchise. I’m very selective with what games I buy now. EA, Activision, 343i and others are to thank for that.

Wow, interesting logic… You have been burnt by gaming companies/ devolopers… May I ask what issues Halo 5 presented to you that makes you qustion Infinite on day 1?

Also, I heard 343i wanted Halo 4 to be an Xbox One launch title… But obviously Microsoft did not

Halo 5 dropping BTB at launch and trying to strong arm us into Warzone, the general lack of content, no split screen, no playable elites, the lack of blood and gore, the fact that NOTHING can be earned without being unlocked through rng reqs, the egregious and invasive reqs that you cannot avoid, the lack of armour customisation, the emblem customisation was non existent, the campaign was a joke etc etc. I could list a lot more too.

Halo, Battlefield, and a few others were games I would have dropped cash on top tier editions without hesitation. After Halo 5, Shadow of War, BF1 etc, never again. I managed to avoid SWBF2 and BFV and that was down to Halo 5. I used to go dark on games to avoid spoilers, in Halo 5’s case I missed some things. The final straw with Halo 5 was the rng loot mechanic being tied to micro transactions. It’s designed to be a grind to encourage you to buy.

I will not support it in any game. So, until Halo Infinte is out, and I see things I like I won’t buy it, especially where micro transactions, rng and dlc is concerned. I do think it will be a cross gen release though.

Halo being a launch title with a current gen version was always the best guess I think. What MS needs to do is blow away Sony big time. Throw in Halo, revive Fable, a new giant Forza Horizon and then add new stuff. Like a new Splinter Cell, exclusive deals with EA for Fifa and such.

Then again: MS will always be taking hits. If they get exclusive content it’s bad… If Sony gets it it’s great etc.

I think it’s highly likely it will be a launch title.

As for what they need to do to make sure it’s not a repeat of the XB1:

  1. Price needs to be on par with PS5 or cheaper. The XB1 was more expensive than the PS4 and it was bound to be left behind from the get go.

  2. Power needs to be on par with PS5 or more. This was another thing that leaded to the XB1 falling behind. Why would you shell out $100 more… for a weaker console? Remember all those 720p vs 1080p memes? Lasted YEARS.

  3. This one I’m not worried about but should be stated anyway. No anti-consumer features. Remember all those bad features that Phil had to reverse to even get people to look at the XB1? That’s the biggest reason XB1 was dead on arrival. They ruined the rep they built with the 360 and spat in everyone’s faces, destroying customer trust. Phil’s been spending this entire generation trying to rebuild that trust, but having the best console out there has proven it’s not enough to beat the competition and that brings me to…

  4. GAMES. The most important factor of a console the main reason people buy a console. Look at the Switch; a pretty bad console compared to the PS4 and XB1, yet they’re almost caught up to the XB1 in such a short amount of time because it has awesome games and their fanbase KNOWS they’re gonna keep getting more. Microsoft as of 2018 have gotten rid of all the people they needed to and have the people they do need in the right positions to make Xbox truly flourish. They’re buying up and creating studios because they know they need games. They’ll obviously have the quantity, but now it’s a question of quality. If the studios they now have can pump out quality games like Nintendo and Sony can, they can once again properly compete.

Side note: Sony is trying to buy one month exclusivity with GTA6? Where in the world did you hear this? Sounds bologna.

What MS and Sony need to do is have their in house titles as timed exclusives and then released on all consoles after 6 months for example. How many PS4 and Xbox players can afford a game ? Probably most. Now, how many Xbox and PS players can afford 2 or more consoles, and subscriptions and games ? Not as many imo.

With an install base of over 82 million, it makes sense to me to release the likes of Gears 4 and Halo 5 to Playstation. In return we could get Spiderman and Nioh for example. I’ll buy both the new Xbox and PS5 at launch with games, but I’m very much in a minority. I know many gamers that cannot afford all the hardware.

I think Halo Infinite will launch on both the current and next Xbox, I would have it as a timed exclusive then release it to Playstation for extra sales. Gaming is expensive, why permanently cut access to the less fortunate because of a brand. I can buy or download a CD and play it on anything. Why not a game ?

But you need exclusives to have people buy your product. So no, please no timed exclusives of everything they make. Especially not Halo. I get your point but it’ll be the death of console gaming.

I used to think like that too. Players will always buy the console they prefer. Why limit a games sales by having it on only one console ? If I had my way there would be no exclusives at all. There are over 80 million Playstation four consoles, many players cannot afford all the hardware, it’s a shame millions will never experience certain games because of a brand. I think Halo going to Playstation would be great for the franchise.

You do realize that Halo is owned by Microsoft right. Why in gods green earth would you sell your main product to your competitor for the sake of a few bucks. Nah, keep it like it is. Xbox and PC. You will never see a PS game on Xbox let alone PC so why should MS do it. \

Topic on hand however I do believe Infinite will be a launch title for the next gen Xbox and Xbox One with full crossplay capabilities. It only makes sense

already confirmed for xbox one but I wouldn’t rule out a cross gen release sony seems to hint at same thing with games like death stranding as well

My money is that the “next generation” xbox is just going to be another step up from the Xbox One X with new releases being just scaled down for older Xbox hardware. So in a way it will be a launch title.

Heck even seeing Halo on other platforms doesn’t seem like such a stretch at least if its via some Xbox brand streaming service.

Yes, here is the link to one article discussing the news/ leak that Sony is paying/ offering Rockstar a hefty amount for a 1 month exclusivity deal: https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.express.co.uk/entertainment/gaming/1115637/GTA-6-release-date-UPDATE-PS5-rumours-new-PlayStation-details/amp

There are many more articles discussing it too, but this was just the first one I found when I googled it

I fully believe, without a shadow of a doubt, that Halo Infinite will be a launch title for the next Xbox. It makes too much sense and Microsoft knows it needs to come out of the gate swinging. Now, with Phil Spencer in charge, I expect Xbox to become even better than the glory days we remember on 360.

I could see them trying to snag up an exclusivity deal but one month? Rockstar must be asking for some big dollars if that’s all Sony can muster, seems like a waste to me.

Wonder if it’s possible for a beta for Halo infinite to come out on current consoles were on now.
