Xbox One Stereo headset Halo 5 mic monitoring?

Thinking about buying the Xbox One Stereo Headset. Sounds good and at a price I’m willing to spend right now. Nothing over that price. I compared them to a few in the store. But I know they were first introduced before there were X1 controllers with a 3.5mm port. When the headset first came out it required the included headset adapter. The problem with that is that their particular headset adapter doesn’t allow for mic monitoring. I’m so used to mic monitoring from the 360 generation. The interesting thing is that now X1 controllers have a 3.5mm port, and the Xbox One Stereo Headset has a 3.5mm cable (that normally plugs into the headset adapter). From what I understand people still plug the headset adapter into the controller that have the 3.5mm port, and they still don’t get mic monitoring. So here is my question… Has anyone with the Xbox One Stereo Headset and new X1 controller with a 3.5mm port tried completely removing the headset adapter and plugging straight into the 3.5mm port?Just toss the headset adapter that came with that headset to the side. If so does bypassing the adapter provide mic monitoring? Also I wouldn’t think there would be a difference in sound quality, but is there a difference by going this route?

Thanks in advance.

What do you mean by mic monitoring?

Like lowering the volume of the chat?

Hearing yourself. I had to mute my mic monitoring because even with my mic muted I could still hear the mic, and the mic is broken so all I would hear is an annoying popping noise the entire damn time.

I mean… I use Sennheiser G4ME ZERO’s and I have the new Xbox One controller with the 3.5 mm port. I guess I can kinda hear myself… Like if I were to breathe in the mic I can actually hear that I’m breathing in the mic if that’s what you’re asking? Lol I’m sorry, I’m not sure I get this all the way.
