Xbox One policy flaws may not be bad.

Read this very intresting article.
For those who are skeptical of the Xbox One and it’s policies of used games, DRM, etc. I think this link might be able to help the people who are stuck in between choosing Xbox One and Ps4 and also for the people who are choosing the Ps4 because of the Xbox One’s restricting policies, used games, etc.

Huh, that is interesting.

I was worried about the console but this has quelled some of that. I’m glad the “check in every 24 hours” thing is not final, and I expect they’ll change it.

I’m always connected, so I don’t mind, but I figure that there are still a few people who would want these restriction erased or at least eased up. Maybe monthly or weekly check-ins?

Thanks for post. Love it when he said.people are waiting with pitchforks and Sony on their pedestal.

LOL that was pretty funny.

Then again, it’s a shame that Microsoft hasn’t clarified, rectified, and generally assuaged people’s anger over these issues yet. Sony’s certainly on top at this point and it’ll take alot for Microsoft to get in a good position, even if they did inform people and changed some of the controversial decisions.

Of course, all the PS4s might end up melting or something upon turning on for the first time and… well that’d be pretty hilarious.

Good read, thanks for posting. I have been leaning towards getting an X1. The potential for some great gaming is there, and I want to be a part of that.

I was a little disappointed at first, but the more I look into it, and the gameplay I have seen at E3 make me want to get this behemoth.

It is a behemoth not only in size, but also in its power to outperform the PS4.

Thank you for the article it helped me understand why Microsoft did what they did and now I love the Xbox one again!!!
I wished Microsoft had just explained things like the article did and this would make things so much better. Seriously it is their fault for all the hate they are getting due to their lack of delivering all the details properly. Just like this amazing article!!

I already knew quite a bit of this, but this article has explained to me what they are trying to achieve with the Kinect (still don’t like the idea though).

Here’s another article relevant to why the DRM shouldnt be that big of deal. But it wouldn’t have hurt if they discussed it at either of the conventions rather than shadily avoiding it.

Very informative article, thx for the link. There’s so many misconceptions about it at the moment, I’d just had to correct my son on a point as he and his friends had got the wrong idea about the 24hr login requirement. They thought if you went on holiday for a week and your Xbox hadn’t been logged on every 24hrs during that period you’d return home from holiday to find you’d never be able to play games on it again!

My favorite part after reading that is that the DRM on the X1 is basically the same thing they are doing on the PS4 except that Sony tries to brush it aside and make MS look like the bad guy. On the PS4, 3rd party developers will also have the same option to say no to used copies of their game and also have a 24 hour check in.

The best solution MS could do is simply have the 24 hour check in only for games being played off the HD and require the disk in the tray for offline play. I have a feeling that’s what the end result will be. Anyone that has an issue with the 24 hour check of games loaded to the HD has another agenda in mind.

Can we just stop this…

If you don’t like the Xbox One’s policies, buy a PlayStation 4. Have fun and enjoy yourself. I don’t understand why everyone’s so self-entitled to share it with the world.

If you don’t mind the Xbox One’s policies, buy it and ignore everyone else.

Did you read the link? OP posted this thread to hopefully educate some people that have either been misinformed or don’t care to actually do some research for themselves. It’s always better to make decisions with good information instead of hearsay and knee jerk reactions, no?

People may be quick to jump to the Ps4 because of Microsoft’s DRM policies, but what all the Sony fanboys don’t understand is that Sony is leaving its DRM up to the Game developers themselves.

I’d even be fine with ‘checks in every 24 hours while an internet connection is available, and must do a check on connecting after a period of non-internet connection.’

I was directing that towards the community.

> I was directing that towards the community.

And the community needs it and I do agree with what you said. This is one of the first threads I’ve seen on the subject that actually gives quality information.

We’ve known this for weeks people just aren’t doing any research

I’ve been a proponent of the Xbox One since it was announced. I’m an extreme fan of Steam and how it delivers games. I have no problems with the “restrictions” and supposed infringement upon consumer rights. I believe that as time moves along, the Xbox One will come to be more accepted. But, I feel that some critics won’t let go–no matter what information is given to them. That community is who my message was directed towards.

If you hate DRM with a passion and/or don’t have access to the internet, don’t buy an Xbox One.

If you are fine with the Xbox One and its policies, buy it.

It’s as simple as that.
