it would depend on who you ordered from and who was in charge of fulfilling your order and mailing it out. I’m sure a bunch of people will get their Halo 5 Consoles and Statue Editions today, this weekend or Monday. But it’s probably a pretty small percentage of the people who ordered them. It’s a luck of the draw thing.
Usually smaller retailers that break street date. Major chains like Wal-Mart and such now have street dated games blocked for early sale in their POS systems. But accidents do happen, the whole reason for street dates is simple. If you have a mom and pop who gets their copies early and sells early, they would take orders from bigger chains/retailers who didn’t and they get stuck with tons of inventory.
This is a hot button issue for me personally, as I once lost a 700 dollar bonus for pre-orders because a local mom and pop broke street on Halo Reach. because our sales dropped below the pre-order numbers significantly, not only did we have tons of unsold copies, our little store lost tons of revenue. The mom and pop sold out and even had time to order more prior to launch. The only good news was we used the same distributer and had proof they launched early as we recorded a purchase on video and turned them in.
Yes Microsoft maintains a 1-800 number for this issue and not only did they get fined heavily, they also lost new releases for quite some time, was a year I think. So while the players can not get into trouble for scoring an early copy, the retailer very much can, and usually does.
Sometimes, they might ship it a day or two early, expecting it to reach you at the good date. Happened to me with Reach. It was shipped two days before release, and i got it the next day.
that would be cool… i still cna’t get mine till Tuesday… but i wouldn’t mind watching some unboxing vids till then.
look at the release date and I do believe 343 said anyone that pre-orders the halo5 Xbox gets it early so they can install halo5 before release.
