In case you haven’t heard, there’s a lot of rumors going around that the One will be getting some sort of upgrade, possibly a GPU upgrade. I can see this as possible since it has a decent cooling system and the power brick.
Phil Spencer went ahead and stated he wants xbox to be upgradable.
Onto halo 5, if this is a thing and current games can actually benefit from this. All they have to do is make it so theres no more popping resolution as you approach objects and make it so players/AI in the background run at 60fps.
(I’d love it if neverwinter and battlefield 4 were able to take advantage of this too)

Halo one of the best looking games out there?? I would strongly disagree. Halo 5 has got to be one of the worst looking FPS on next gen consoles.

Sadly, I have to agree with you. But I’d say it’s has the best gameplay overall.

Id be happy if they were able to do that…I guess the next question is… Would our current Xbox One systems be able to be “upgradeable” or will we have to dish out more money for a new Xbox one for that feature.
Halo 5 ain’t the purdiest, but it looks fine enough to me.
Honestly, the biggest thing I’d be looking forward to if the Xbone got a new GPU is the possibility of H5 having 60 fps splitscreen, even if it only supported two-player SS.
Well maybe I was abit off with that last statement but still! There are some great details in this game I won’t lie. Some of the newer made armor like atlas look really detailed, same for the vehicles. Anyway!! I’d like to see this rumor come true.
Maybe use the kinect port for a GPU attachment like the n64 put that external memory thing back for donkey Kong and star fox 64

I think the game looks great as far as the first person view goes such as the hands weapons and such but the maps flat texturless appearances and the funky super Nintendo-ish look of other players at a distance is terrible I don’t know how any of this stuff works but I feel like if a reason for no split screen is because of the high frame rate and “graphics” all things should look incredible

The multiplayer levels are horrendous to look at. No texture, lots of bland colors. Not to mention a lot of the levels are monotonous. They all look similar and for the most part none of the levels are practical. Think about the structures on the Halo 5 levels… metal platforms and ramps everywhere. Now I understand that this is a sci-fi game but at least make the levels look like you’re fighting somewhere. Like WTF is pegasus for instance? Is that suppose to be some kind of structure in the Halo universe? If so, What the hell is it and what is it’s purpose? At least in CoD you have a pretty good idea of what kind of envirmnment you’re battling in. They have real buildings with mulitple rooms and windows. Not just a bunch of arbitrary platforms and stuff to hide behind. I feel like even the spartans could look much better. Maybe it’s the lighting in the game? IDK. I don’t mean to throw salt on Halo, I love the game, but IMO it is one of the least aesthetically pleasing games on the next gen console.

The Xbox one is just a low end pc, and it is Microsoft we’re dealing with here

Honestly, I have to say, if they are going to do that, I also hope that they will put Halo 5 on PC, because I’m only upgrading the components in one computer, and it isn’t going to be my peasant box.
I don’t think there was any sort of thing on the hardware upgrade, (IIRC, he recently corrected his statement) though Phil Spencer did confirm that there was going to be another Xbox after the Xbox One. Maybe he was trying to allude to the next console being something where we could still play older games while getting newer ones at the same time? They also seem to be wanting to champion the concept of “taking your library with you”, so it’s a plausible conclusion.
As far as the Xbox One is concerned, though, the only thing that might change is that MS might be able to use some parts of DirectX12 to improve some aspects of performance. While the Xbox One probably couldn’t take advantage of any bleeding edge rendering features, it could probably use the improvements to bring out more graphical performance. Halo 5. in theory, could support this if Just Cause 3 is doing it as well.
Although, a year ago, Phil Spencer said that it wouldn’t make a difference, but a year is a long time to iron things out.

Yeah I’m going with this, not a hardware update, but a software update along the lines of DX12.
Unless the hardware update is a big USB stick with a GPU on it, I don’t see how we’d be able to upgrade our existing consoles.
We’re not going to open our X1s and put any additional hardware into this. Keep in mind, cooling is removed from the board as well to properly display the board.
Well, DX12 did do something to improve performance of the graphics without having the need to upgrade the hardware.
Halo 5 would’ve looked a lot better if they had kept the graphics like the beta. Lighting had more range/bounced off of objects and you saw your shadow and shield glow IN FIRST PERSON.
This is the first halo in a while where we cant see our shadow from first person. That also means that our shadow doesn’t dynamically appear on our weapons/arms in first person.
I don’t know why they altered the lighting after the beta. The beta was beautiful. Plus the armor colors weren’t stupidly vibrant.

I can see you point… Might as well put full Windows10 software into the Xbox one, give it keyboard/mouse support, and make everything Windows 10 games:joy:

The Beta ran at 720p, so it had more rendering budget for those things. They had to turn down the dials on those little things in the lighting when they added in the dynamic resolution thing that upped the max resolution.

Really, just change the brand name from “Xbox consoles” to “Xbox pre-built computers”. They can still sell you a custom Xbox-cased computer, you don’t have to hassle with buying CPUs, GPUs, and Motherboards, and everybody gets to play Microsoft games. Not Windows games or Xbox games; Microsoft games. It’s the future, man.
