Xbox one footage of Infinite

Hey everyone, before I get into my point I’d first like to clarify that this thread isn’t a debate on if Infinite should be released on Xbox one or not, there are already threads for that topic so lets leave that there. What I want to talk about is that if 343 still plans to release Halo Infinite on Xbox one, they should release gameplay footage of it at some point, so that consumers know what they are buying. I say this following the controversy around Cyberpunks last gen performance. CDPR purposely obstructed gameplay footage of XBO/PS4 because the performance was pitiful. People wouldn’t have bought the game if they knew that was what they were getting. I think we all knew XBO versions of games would not be as crisp as next gen versions, but the difference between Series X and One versions of Cyberpunk is astounding. Even if the gameplay for infinite isn’t anything astounding on last gen, I think 343 has a responsibility to release footage of it (when the game is ready to be seen again) so that Halo fans know what they would get if they buy it. Before Cyberpunk I didn’t really have any plans to buy a next gen console because I don’t really game that much anymore, I pretty much just play Halo, and as long as infinite was releasing on the One there was no reason for me to buy a new console to play a game I could play anyways. Now, after seeing the cyberpunk fiasco I am rethinking that a little bit. If infinite performs well on the One, then I won’t buy a series x, but if it’s gonna play like a dumpster fire, I’d rather know ahead of time so I can plan to get a series x and actually enjoy the game when it comes out. But I think we should see what the performance on both systems looks like so that consumers like me can make an informed decision.

I imagine all the cards will be laid on the table during the public flights…

Likely, but I’m also not sure that the flights will cover campaign. If the whole thing is supposed to be more open like Mombasa Streets, then I think that that’s somewhere that performance issues could be run into. Flights will give us some of this information, but the flights also aren’t the full build of the game, they’re test builds.

I think this is underrated, and honestly something I didn’t think of till you said it. Public flighting will be a GREAT indicator of if the game functions on Xbox One.

Yeah I think that’s really important especially after Cyberpunk. Depending on how big of a difference there is it could serve as a good selling point for XSX too. “Yeah you could get it on your xb1 but look how much better it looks/runs on Series X” type of thing. I’m pretty confident they can at least get it running at a locked 30 on xb1, it doesn’t look nearly as demanding as Cyberpunk but who knows.

IF the flights are offered to Xbox One users. If they are not then I would start to worry.

They probably will be offered to Xbox One users

Yeah if the flights aren’t on Xbox one then that’s an instant red flag.

I really hope they are because I don’t plan on upgrading until closer to Infinite (hoping for a 20th anniversary edition console and/or Infinite console). However I wouldn’t put it past Microsoft to “reward” those who’ve upgraded to Series X/S only.

I would be genuinely surprised if anything like that occurred, since 343 controls flighting, not Microsoft.

I agree. Like y’all have said, we will find out with fighting.

Until someone higher up comes with a marketing idea to further push its console sales. Anything from the top will always trump anything below.

I’m not buying Halo: infinite if it is also going to be on old gen consoles. Because it will not be a next gen game at all and I would rather not be disappointed just like I was with Cyberpunk 2077.
