Good Morning my Fellow Spartans,

Halo 5 is right around the corner and I couldn’t be more excited! I would like to discuss a topic that is not getting nearly enough attention in the gaming community. This December, Microsoft will be launching the Xbox One Elite. What is widely publicized is the Xbox Elite Controller being included in this console. and while I can’t wait to use this controller, the real game changer with this new console is not its controller but its HDD.

Xbox One Elite will come with a 1 TB SSDHD, not a 1 TB HDD. Now I am not the foremost authority on computer tech and software but I did my research. First off, Microsoft must be taking a risk selling both the controller and console with a 1 TB SSDHD for $499. At that price, with that hardware, there is very little room for Microsoft to make a profit (if any) off of selling this console. This is the bundle Microsoft should’ve introduced when the Xbox One went live back in 2013. But that is a topic for another discussion.

The 1TB SSDHD is a game changer. Traditional HDD’s have mechanical parts (that can break) and require those moving parts to retrieve data (and this dramatically slows down the speed of your system). SSD’s are more like flash drives, the data is all there for instantaneous retrieval without waiting on moving parts. All i can say is Bravo Microsoft.

The Xbox One Elite Package Bundle is the way to go if you’re looking to pick up a next gen console. What an exciting time to be an Xbox Fan.

That SSDHD is a hybrid meaning it’s got a small if not very small amount of space on the Solid state part and the rest of your storage space is a mechanical drive like your used to on your current XB1 and other console or storage devices. That small part will be used to store some boot files and some parts of data you use the most to be 20% quicker out of energie saving mode. There is no extra speed for anything else. You won’t notice any difference in speed.

that being said, the Elite bundle is a great bundle with a more than fair pricing point. The real gem in this bundle is the Elite controller.
