I have an Xbox Live Gold account.
I have a 360 in my office and a buddy who doesn’t have Gold has been playing splitscreen wargames with me at lunchtimes.
Can I get him a Silver account and get him to log in and still come online with me as a guest? Some games support this but I don’t know if Halo 4 does.
I know he can just be a guest - like RagingAvatar(1) - but can he be signed in as an Xbox Live silver account and come online with me as a guest?
No I’m afraid not. Only guest accounts and XBL Gold members can play online on Xbox 360. Silver accounts do not qualify, even though a Gold member will be present on the console.
This isn’t the case for the Xbox One though. Microsoft has said that as long as one account on an Xbox One has Gold, everyone on that Xbox will have Gold access.
