Xbox Live Connection Dropping Constantly!

Hello,

Im not sure how many people are active in this forum - but I play Halo Reach with my family across the US for as long as I can remember. Still our favorite game to play.

However, within the past month, I have been constantly losing connection to Xbox Live while playing the game. It will happen if Im playing in or out of a party. Sometimes theres lag when it happens, sometimes its perfectly smooth and then im dropped without warning. I have been kicked out of probably 20 games in the last month and I have no idea why.

My Internet speed hasnt changed and neither has my service. Average Ping is 21, 28.9Mbps download speed, 4.5Mbps upload. NAT is open. Packet Loss Rate is Low/Excellent. Upstream bandwith is Average (but ive had average for a long time and never have had this problem). I’ve even had my AT&T service dude come by and check all connections and had him replace my router, but that didnt change anything. I also switched out my Ethernet cable… same results… I have no idea whats going on but im about to hang up my Halo Reach hat and call it a day :frowning:

But I dont want to do that. Ive also seen mannnnnny people appear to quit… Im not sure if they are having the same issue or what… but im surprised I havent seen any forum posts if they were.

I am hoping someone here has had similar issues and can possibly help… Im not sure what else to do.

Thanks in advance!

Its also a wired connection.

If you ares till getting a decent connection on other devices then there could be a problem with your ethernet cable. Try replacing it and see if it makes a difference.

That was one of the first things I tried. Same issues.

As a test, I tried out Halo 4 and I didnt have any of the connection issues as I experience with Halo Reach.

Ive even purchased a new game disc… just because… and it still is happening :’(

Still having issues. People I have been playing said they are also having similar issues. Certain maps wont even load properly.

Im really hoping 343i chimes in on this. Maybe the Reach server needs some maintenance?

Do you get completely disconnected from XBL and have to sign in again. If that’s what’s happening you are probably being DDoS offline. There are still some BKs who do this. I got DDoSed last week by a guy that had “Disrespect = Disconnect” as his motto on his profile. I asked him why he did it and he just replied " because we were winning". I guess our winning wasn’t respecting him.

If you are just being disconnected from games then welcome to Reach as it is today. That happens about 2 out of every 10 games in play. Its just low population and players spread geographically across the globe causes lots of black screens in a game and sometimes you don’t reconnect to the new host and get disconnected from the game.

My halo:reach is working just fine, I do t experience lag unless I’m playing with people out of country: Mexico Japan China etc.

But its probably your Xbox. Try playing another game for 2 days and get back on reach. If the problem continues then your Xbox must have an issue with reach’s multiplayer connection. This is because 343 industries only do a server check on reach. No one updates reach anymore. And bungie isn’t even allowed to look at halo because it isn’t owned by them anymore. But seriously make sure your Xbox has a good connection to the reach servers

I get completely disconnected. I usually have to either restart the xbox or go back to the dashboard and re-test the connection to force it into re-connecting.

Also, there are 2 maps that I cant even load anymore. Im always getting the “Load Failure” for Sword Base and “Powerhouse.” Ive asked my friends to run tests by themselves outside of a party and they cant load those maps either. I thought maybe it was my disc but after I bought a new one and it still happened, I know for a fact thats not it, and since its happening to multiple people how can it be just a problem on my end? :frowning:

Does 343i even check their servers for problems or have they completely abandoned Halo Reach???

I have been having the same problem since I started playing halo reach again this month. I live in Berlin, Germany, I have an open NAT, a good connection with my ISP, no other active downloads or uploads and my Xbox has real time privileges on my router. Now I am getting banned for quitting games too many times, even though I get the appropriate number of cR’s for finishing said games. What kind of inane technical problem is this?

I have noticed you play a lot of Firefight and that probably explains your credit ban for quitting. You see Firefight uses a different networking model to normal Matchmaking. When the host quits a game you all keep playing and get credits for completion but the sad fact is the System that 343 uses records the game as a quit for All players when the host of a firefight match quits the game. Its just another one of the things they wont fix as they don’t care about reach anymore.
