I’m more so new to this, so I’m unsure when I an Xbox player will be accepted into one of the flights. Do I need to go into the insider app? Or do something else?
As long as you have signed up to be opted in to flights, you have a chance of receiving an invite though there is no guarantee.
You need to join the Insider program first.

Sign up for the Halo Insider program, verify your email, wait for a flight announcement and pray you get invited!
Its pretty much just a matter or chance.
Just have to hope you get in the next one
