I couldn’t agree with this more. Without Halo CE back in 2001, there wouldn’t be FPS on the console, or at least not very good ones. Halo became the baseline for console FPS. Then came Halo Wars, proving that good, or semi good for those who hated it, RTS games can be made on the console too. Do you agree with this? Or do you have different ideas?
I agree wholeheartedly I was a Nintendo guy then a PS guy …and then came Halo!!

When I think of the original Xbox, all I really think about is Halo.
I was and still am a Nintendo guy and Halo gave me reason to enjoy the xbox as well. Paper Mario for the win still or Metroid 
I agree as well. I was strictly a Nintendo guy until I went over to my cousin’s house one day and played Halo CE. A few weeks later I bought an Xbox just so I could play it again.

Goldeneye was great, and all, but Halo perfected it. it was the right game at the right time.
Plus, Halo 1 was released a couple months after 9/11.
I don’t know if any of you appreciate or realize the gravity of that, but having an awesome game to play with buddies during that time was amazing. It helped get our minds off of what was going on in our world, and got us sucked into a new world, while at the same time creating the console competitive shooter that many believed was impossible.
Nintendo will always be #1 for me. Ever since the first day I opened up my Christmas present 21 years ago and saw a NES with 5 games! I don’t think I slept for days.
Halo CE, Halo 2 and Halo 3 all hold that “one more game” that no other game could match. Well, except for Goldeneye, but that was before Halo.
I agree, but it’s ashamed how Microsoft will barely help Halo financially like paying for them to have dedicated servers,or helping out Halo fest(did you guys compare Halo fest to COD XP?)anyways Halo did bring Xbox into existence.

I loved Goldeneye for the N64 until discovered Halo! Went from chasing friends with golden guns and lasers to chasing them with shotguns and SPLAZERS

My friend and I got our entire school to believe you could get the Golden Warthog with our BS instructions.

Actually, there were a few I remember playing. GTA, some Tom Clancy games, NBA Street, Ninja Gaiden, <mark>Knights of the Old Republic</mark>, and Project Gotham Racing… those are the popular one’s I had.

Hmm you don’t say. All I really remember is Halo and that racing agme I mentioned. I was playing PS at this time though as well. Playing Xbox was synonymous with playing Halo.

I’d agree Halo made the original XBOX sell and become a console platform. It was an evolutiona and near perfection of the console FPS.
Further Halo 2 and online multiplayer made XBOX LIVE become a gaming platform and get a huge subscriber base. Bungie’s matchmaking system combined with Halo was revolutionary and is/was the basis for XBL we still enjoy today.
Halo 3 refined this system as similar to evolution. Reach’s netcode and matchmaking systems are near perfect for what they are.
Now we need the next revolution of XBOX LIVE and Halo 4…dedicated servers with fallback to standard matchmaking by choice or overload.
