Ok, so we all know that Halo 5 already has almost 200,000 preorders. And this number is only going to continue to ride immensely. However, Halo 5 sales depend on how well Xbox One is selling. Currently there is the Xbox One bundle with Halo MCC out for 350. The last update on vgchartz for consoles was at the end of March 7th. So by the time March ends Xbox One should have sold a great deal more. The last update for preorders was for March 14th, 15 days before the live action trailers were released. Now Agent Locke’s live action trailer has 6 million views. So by the time the April 11th update comes out for Vgchartz, Halo 5 preorders should have gone up a great deal as well.
So we can expect to see Halo 5 and Xbox One selling a great deal by the end of here. Also there is Rise of the Tomb Raider coming out this holiday season as well which will boost Xbox One sales even more. Also with the release of Windows 10 people will have even a bigger incentive to get the Xbox One. So I think Microsoft will the demolish the competition this holiday season.
Imagine how many more sales the game would have if it were good.
The game will sell well because it’s Halo, which will ride off of Bungie’s success for a little longer.
If Halo 5 was following the formula that made the original trilogy good, it would not only be successful because it’s Halo, but because it would be a great game.

Or die out like CoD is now because of being the same over and over. Gotta look at both possibilities.

While I love Xbox, there’s no telling what could happen this holiday season with Sony. Don’t speak too soon

Yeah it might be a little too early to speak. However, we must remember that Uncharted 4 got delayed. So Sony doesn’t really have a strong exclusive coming out for holiday 2015.
I think Xbox has the potential to dominate because of its exclusives. While people are still attracted to PS4 because of its slight graphics advantage, I don’t think it has the exclusives. All the ones I was a little jealous about flopped anyway (The Order in particular). Being both a PC and Xbox player, I can honestly say that nothing about the PS4 interests me as I have the exclusives and my favourite franchises on Xbox while I have the graphics on PC.
200 000 preorders is a nice number but keep in mind neither CoD nor Battlefront revealed gameplay yet…
The next CoD setting isn’t even known!
After Battlefront revealed first gameplay (at SW celebration later this month) it will rrise

E3 is coming up. They can drop anything and the world will go crazy because it’s the more popular console. The Order for example but they could drop another hit like Bloodborne.

CoD is black ops 3. From what I’ve heard on Twitter is the it’ll have movement mechanics more similar to Titanfall over AW.

Of course Battlefront and COD will ride. But I don’t think Halo will lose this time to COD. And I don’t Battlefront will bear out Halo. But only on Xbox.
the problem is so many pre-orders for H5 won’t be made because of the -Yoinked!- up release of TMCC, that said i give it 3 days after release when the pre-order guinea pigs report on how broken or not (please be not) the game is, if the reports are good then there will be LOTS of copies being snatched up and/or put on order for the next delivery
also, we can now download games on the xbox, in some cases before release so a lot of potential pre orders have been lost as people will simply pre download the game (basically a digital pre-order) or again wait to hear if it work on release before paying for their download
as for how well it will sell compared to its competition…
i expect it will out sell other shooters on the Xbox, and possibly outsell battlefront on consoles in general, but CoD will out sell it in general simply due to being multiplatform

Lol I love Star Wars. And Darth Vader is my favorite character of all time. But I just can’t see Star Wars beating Halo in the gaming department. I mean Halo 3 sold 14.5 million copies according to Wikipedia. If Microsoft is successful with the #Huntthetruth marketing campaign, then I don’t think COD will beat out Halo either. But nothing beats Star Wars in the movies department. Star Wars is like the Bible of movies.
2015 will be a good year. Jurassic World, Windows 10, Halo 5, Star Wars BF3, and Star Wars episode 7! And maybe, just maybe, Nintendo will announce a new Metroid game. June onward, 2015 gets real good.

Battlefront 3 has been eagerly awaited since Battlefront 2. And Battlefront 2 was a masterpiece. So people have waited for a long time for BF3 ( oh, crap, now I know why DICE changed the name to just ’ Battlefront’)

Go look up shinobi602 on Twitter on Neogaf. He’s an insider and delivers on news.

Those 14,5 M were at a time when Halo was way more popular…
Sure, not everybody liked the the Halo 3 version of classic Halo, but it was classic Halo at least! There was no “civel war” within the fanbase!
Halo will sell well, no question but so many people are still upset with this “modern” direction, on the other hand we have Star Wars! A movie is comming out later this year and Dice will create an huge hype!

Maybe so… but COD started as an inferior game, and it was releasing every year.
Halo was every 3 years, and a better game from the start.
I play Halo 2 now, and it’s still phenomenal.
I’d like to see how many people could go back and play COD from 2004. It would be terrible because COD relies on flavour of the month gimmicks, which inherently dates itself.
Halo used to use tried and true competition mechanics that will never get old.
But yes…still a possibility.
