I’m gonna guess most people know about Noble 14 and how they stayed online after the og Xbox servers got shutdown… what if some people from the community wanted to do something like that again? Legion of Reach, Last Helljumpers, and the Reclaimers… I would 100% be down to keep my 360 Reach booted up to try and stay online for as long as possible again. Any thoughts?

Well that’s the thing… I don’t think they were patient last time. Because the last people on the og xbox already had a game going, it never kicked them out. So until we turn it off or host disconnects, the 360 server we are using might stay active. But, it might be different now due to newer networks.

You can still use 360 games on xbox one don’t worry about the old console. The only question is whether or not the servers would actually work on the xbox one backwards compat thing…

I think 343 confirmed that online wouldn’t work even with back compat. Unfortunate, but we have the MCC so it’s not too big of a deal.

"**DOES THIS ALSO APPLY TO ‘BACK COMPAT’ VERSIONS OF THESE GAMES ON XBOX ONE / XBOX SERIES X/S? **Yes – even via back-compat play on a newer console, the underlying software is still the original Xbox 360 content and thus still relies on legacy online services for some functionality. The player experience once we sunset services will be the same regardless of whether you’re playing on an Xbox 360 or via back compat. "

After the servers shut down, no. If they shutdown while you are in a session already? That is possible since it has happened before on the first gen xbox. If all of you have MCC, then yes you can still invite them on that platform after December this year.

I’m kind of upset that 343 is deciding to shut down the servers, all while understanding it costs a lot to run a server only maybe 1500 people play on daily if that. But looking back at the last 10 years or so no game has met the expectations of halo reach. I’ve never had another experience like I did with reach. And while it may have been recoded for the master chief collection it’s partially broken because it’s interwoven with the other games. I’d appreciate a full reach reboot all on its own. Hell I’d even spend another $60 for a remastered copy of reach played on the Xbox one servers. I’m sure my OG halo fans can agree. There was no stronger gaming community than the Reach community. “Spartans never die, they just go missing in action”

Agreed, but would you rather dwell on the past and wait for a Reach remaster or wait for the future and Halo Infinite which has similar art styles as Reach and hopefully more classic game play. I’ve thought a lot about this and I’m more with the Halo Infinite side. I still want celebrate the past though, but also look on to the future. I’d like to think that this was Microsoft’s decision to shut down legacy Halos and not on 343, but who knows.

I’m all for halo infinite, but I’d still like a reach anniversary edition all by itself. I think that would be the proper way to honor both Halo 3 and reach. Honestly. I think it’s Microsoft’s. They just dropped a new console and I’m guessing it’s a marketing tactic to get people to switch over.
