Hey guys my brother and I bought the halo 5 xb1 console and our physical copy of Halo 5 just came in the mail I pop in the game updated and when trying to get into multiplayer i get the following message: “This mode requires an account with Xbox Live Gold with Multiplayer Priveledges enabled…” seriously wtf? my brothers account has gold I am able to play every other online/multiplayer game because the gold membership and priveledges are tied to the account and shared on the console… did Halo 5 change the rules and now i have to get my own XBL? im super frustrated brand new console brand new game but i cant even play any suggestions
All accounts on the same box should have shared gold.

It doesn’t tho my brothers account has gold and we both share the same console im trying to play but it wont allow me and it throws me to the screen where i have options to purchase XBL for myself

I’m aware that their is no split screen but that is not the point of this thread. What I’m having issues with is XBL.
Check to see if your bros account home Xbox is on that Xbox your playing on otherwise it won’t work.
Hmm. I didnt try to play on a different account abd now im at work so i cant try.
You have me slightly freaked out though.
Perhaps related to the new console you bought? Have you played XBL on that console yet, or just the old console (assuming you had an Xbone before this one)?
Call Microsoft for this one, don’t think we can help you with this issue

Thanks a lot man that was the issue he didn’t set his XBL account to “My Home” in the settiings on this new console. The issue is now resolved. I appreciate all the help from everyone else as well, cheers and see you in game!
